Quality is very variable with these discs. You may be lucky and get a good batch.... Dunno how long the data would stay readable on cheap discs like these. Best to stick with Verbs for anything important.
#3
i seriously beg to differ on that point ive been using these since they arrived good 4 months plus and i found them more than resistant to my hard wearing brother and quality is amazing for the price.

I agree with urbans01, it all depends if you get a good batch of these or not. Also the DVD burner quality is important. Check the user feedback at SVP: http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=2784&prepg=1#reviews

I've had a couple of boxes of these, averaging about 1 in 4 coasters. When the work - great, when they don't...

Still a good deal however
#10
Bought a pack of 10 of these from Micro Direct for around five and a half quid. Good price, however they don't burn or read well, appears to be the 2nd layer??

Have used Infiniti DL discs before and have had no problems with them.

I guess they work for some people, not for others..

must use the latest firmware, i find they work the best on the latest NEC drives and at 4x, use them all the time for xbox360 games.

Sorry to interrupt this thread, but may i ask what i can use this for on an xbox 360. i plan on getting one soon but i want to know all the options available to me as regards modding, coping games onto the hard drive, backing up games etc.

cheers

I'm pretty sure that all dvds are "360" compatible
#14
these are for Backups if you are planning on backing up your games if you have a firmware changed on your drive. not all dvds are compatible at all.

so will i be able to back up my games to those, and will i be able to play those backups?

yep all dual layer dvds pretty much work, I brought some of these a while back but still aint used any of em.

me and 2 other mates use other DL discs that cost around £5 a pack and dont have any probs with our 360's.

That is completely incorrect .... you first need to ascertain whether your dvd drive is a hitachi drive or a samsung drive as the hitachi drives are very fussy on what they will read , samsung drives are less fussy but they are still hit and miss with some dual layered media ... read the reviews first !
Traxdata and Verbatims are usually the most compatible disks to go for , i've had 4 packs of these aone disks and have found about 40% fail during the burn or on the start-up and i have the latest firmware installed on my pioneer 111d drives.
However , given that when they do burn they seem to work perfectly even losing 40% of the disks still works out cheaper than Verbs !!

only if your xbox has been flashed to enable the backups to work

same here , only probably more like 40% failure rate for me . like you say though , when they burn , they work perfectly.
#19
to add to the discussion

i have tried these disks and they are rubbish imo

some failed and some didnt (yes i have latest firmware on my pioneer 111), lots of read errors aswell.

stick with good quality Verbatim dual layers :)
#20
I'm sorry but all DL are compatible with the 360 but it all comes down to burner + disc quality and what drive you have.

I will not touch anything but Verbs. They're guaranteed 100% on any drive. Well, maybe not 100% but you get my drift. Anything else is a false economy. I suppose if you're burning ****** games that you're not going to play much then these will be fine though.
#21
I too have had major problems with these discs. They burn fine for me,but i can never read them back.
Always get stuck at the 50% mark...
#22
as an alternative try Arita they are Ritek and write at 4 speed on a pioneer 108 but only 2.4 on a pioneer 112d that's because pioneer are to lazy to update the firmware with what people need instead of what they use.
Rambox have these ....
#23
Bought some of these a while back, total cr*p!!
#24
I write these at 2.4x and dont have any problems. If you write them at 8x you do get problems on 360 backups.

Hmm 10verbs £20 or these hmmmm toughy that one

I'm sure you'll change your mind in 12 months when you're drive has died from using cheap media. Poor media makes the drive work harder, which will shorten its lifespan.
#26
well the money I save on media will more than make up for changing a dvd drive, if it comes to that.
#27
well i'm going to give them a whirl. I don't understand why the OP hasn't included postage on his post :(

They are cheaper at SVP, by a few pence. And in stock there too. So i'll refrain from voting, as it's not hot nor cold.

I've burnt around 70 verbs and i've never ever had a failure, so the only reason i'm giving these a whirl is to possibily save some moola.

If they don't work, it's no biggie at that price :)

No they don't.

Jeez sorry xbox master, didnt realise this was turning into xbox 360 drive thread

as i said pretty much all DL dvds will work, if ur drive dont like em then thats ur drives fault, if ur burner dont like em then thats ur burners fault.

what dont work for you may work for someone else, me and my friends have used all diff kinds of brands and not had any probs

You continued to discuss about the drives, spreading misinformation about dual layer discs.

Not all of them work, not even close. If the drive doesn't read them then it's usually the discs from experience.

No they aren't. If only Verbatim are 100%, then not all DL discs are compatbile then, are they? Make your mind up.
#29
i got 1 disk out of 10 to play on 360 so i never bought any more, infact the verbs are just as **** on mine, i prefer traxdata they never let me down

This was what i was about to put. Did someone say these are more reliable than verbs? lol yeah right...

You can pick verbs up cheaper than £2 a disc aswell and they also write at 8X with no probs. I paid about £1.70 a disc for Verbs 2.4X (which write at 8X) and they were printables. (these were from Ebay)
#31
Work fine on my Xbox but i do have Samsung and a Pioneer burner.

You misunderstand.

All discs are compatible but they may not work 100% of the time. With Verbs you will almost never get a bad disc or suffer a bad burn.

Does it pay to be an @$$hole?
#33
But they're not. Some discs just don't work with the 360. Does it pay to be ignorant?

'if ur drive dont like em its your drives fault' ?????

Its your drives fault for being a 'hitachi' and not a 'samsung' ??? hmm , lol

If you do have a hitachi drive in your xbox360 ,please disregard this jokers comments as your drive will not read the majority of dl disks , seriously !! This isnt a 'fault' , it is just a compatibility issue which you need to be aware of when choosing which type of disks to use.
For someone to advise that pretty much all disks will work is not only misleading , but also factually incorrect due to the different drives microsoft have used in their consoles.
As mentioned before 'samsung' drives are usually a little better in terms of compatibility than the hitachi so best thing to do us to check up on the forums or perhaps check the feedback comments on a particular disk on the svp site.

I got some of these for 360 games. Absolutely apalling. Most discs simply didn't read and the ones that did would only play a few levels. When burning with verbatime got perfect everytime.

Stay away from these if you are going to be using for a 360
#39
if you have a 60% success rate you will still save money , just lose a little time in the re-burning ......
#40
For the record - these work great with my 360 with Hitachi LG drive when burnt using my Mac Mini (Matshita DVDR drive) or my PC (LG DVDR drive & LiteON DVDR drive). Just stick to 2.4x or there abouts.
