APP FOR STORAGE FOR NEXUS WITHOUT ROOTING £1.27 @ Google play
Nexus Media Importer allows you to import and stream music, video and photos from a USB flash drive or SD card connected to your Nexus 7, or other Android 3.2+ devices that do not support mounting external storage. Google choose not to allow USB/SD Card access on the Nexus series. This software works-around that issue. Requires the following hardware. 1) A USB OTG Cable (Cost approximately $1 USD on Amazon), 2) A USB Flash Drive or USB SD Card Reader and SD Card.
To use:
-Attach the OTG cable to the Nexus or other device
-Attach your USB device to the OTG cable
-Select the file. The selected file's name appears in the preview window (currently only photos show preview).
-Click the play icon to stream or the save (disk) icon
-If save is successful, you can click the download notification to view it or see it in the Downloads app.
Technical Notes:
-DOES NOT REQUIRE ROOT!

Still heat added just because the dev was clever enough to do it without root, but for me Nexus = Root always :)

"didn't want to root", why?
Poor show on Google not to have released a similar app ages ago imo.

And you don't get the firmware updates from Google that make the Nexus brand the one to watch out for.

If you're not going to root it just get an iphone ffs, there is far too much to be gained from rooting to worry about warranty and DATA?

Not really, my Android device is rooted, just because it runs CM9 as it's stock rom, only app I've ever used that needs root is droidsheep and I rarely use that, not found any other reason to root so I actually disabled it in the settings.
How to you paste into the system/app if you're not rooted? I use that for lots of things after a clean wipe/new rom - besides, the best thing about owning a nexus is the paranoid android rom port for full control of dpi including per app density - that alone is worth it
Erm this has nothing to do with moving apps really.

It doesn't need to, the S3 works with any memory stick I have plugged into it via my OTG cable without rooting or anything at all

I don't want to patronise you (by that I mean I don't want to talk down to you), but data is everything now. With an ever increasing reliance on accounts such as the Google account every Android user will have there's plenty to be lost. Lose control of your google account and that's details of your contacts, perhaps online purchase information via your Gmail account. Maybe bank login details.
Data is quite important.
I've had 5 android devices and my current phone is the only one I haven't rooted. The only thing I really miss is Ad Block. Despite this, I don't want an iPhone.
