this is a voucher code not a deal......
Yes I've posted it there too, but it is rare to find a retailer that will include iPad in any discount promotion, so I thought this was a good deal in it's own right

just shy? for most movies thats dvd quality as dvd in 16:9 is 1024*576 - so black bars top and bottom but watched as 'intended'.
anything wider would be downscaled.
you could watch a 4:3 720p film 'as intended' with small bars at sides, again anything wider would be downscaled.
you could always crop etc but that takes effort and will likely ruin movies. there may be some kind of zoom function but imo pointless.
so basically its 720p in 4:3, dvd quality in 16:9 and lower quality any wider.

think the question asked may have been whether it would playback the 1080p file downscaled to fit the screen though and not sure on that as never checked any specs.

The above poster is wrong - I've just got an Ipad. 3G is mobile internet - the non-3G Ipads connect to the internet only through a wi-fi connection (i.e. wireless broadband) - great for at home or in Starbucks. The 3G ones enable you to connect anywhere where you can get a 3G phone signal. You will need to get a sim card (free with most providers), with various deals available - I've got an O2 one which gives me 1GB a month for £10 a month.
The Ipads do allow Java - they don't play Flash videos. MP4 movies work fine, as do DIVX/avi (if you download one of the DIVX player apps through the App Store). You Tube plays fine, and the Ipad has it's own You Tube app already installed.
All in all, it's a great bit of kit - like a very portable laptop. Great for if you do a lot of travelling, as it's great as an e-book reader, surfing the web and playing movies/music.

thought the comet deal for discount was on everything over £300-00 EXCEPT IPADS ?

Deal is hot for those wanting to buy the iPad. Personally I've been waiting for the Notion Ink Adam. Runs on Android, 1080p video, Pixel Qi screen etc and cheaper than iPad. Preorders in December hopefully so not far off. For those looking for a tablet I'd seriously consider waiting and see what it offers.

I can't comment on Nickelodeon as I've never used it, but of course Youtube works on the iPad. There is a dedicated iPad app as well as the website working if you visit it in the browser. In fact if you visit youtube on the iPad you get a special version of the website that is optimised for the iPad.

Kindly don't comment if you are going to spread factual inaccuracies.

Really? 3G one has 3GB of Space? Thats what you going with?

3G = Data provider meaning you can access the internet without having to be near an internet connection. Similar to how your moile phone internet connection works with Smart Phones these days.

If an iPad only came with 3GB of space you would run out of room very quickly..

As far as im aware and correct me if im wrong, there are 2 types of iPads

Wifi = For home and office use where you will always be near a wireless internet connection

3G + Wifi = For when you want to use it for the above and on the move

So the deal really should be '+£120 minimum for internet use away from wi-fi.'
It still amazes me that Apple have been so successful in removing the lid from a laptop and replacing the keys with a virtual one, then going the extra yard adding a premium price for the pleasure of it. Can't fault the marketing when it works.

Oh dear, please don't feed the troll. At least, not anymore than you already have :(

Otherwise, hot! An iPad for under £400 (after cashback).

Its sad but i cant imagine life without an ipad now and its my first Apple device. Very hot deal.

Apple hater here but I can't fault the price, good find.

Great device, I've got a 16GB Wifi myself.
Best things about the iPad are battery life, screen resolution, capacitive screen, and quality of apps.

4.2 Should be out later this month, bringing multi-tasking, wireless printing and plenty other improvements.
Also if your going to be playing videos, check out the VLC Media player.

Hmmm, the Apple UK Store is down ATM... why the hell they need to take it down to update/add products is beyond me!.. Hot deal, I'm hopefully going to pick one up in NYC in April, which by then will hopefully be iPad 2. Anyone know if the US 3G version will work here, or will i just have to plump for Wifi only?

Not true. Neither Java programs nor Flash videos are supported on any iPhone, iPod or iPad.
Apple won't allow either because it would allow Flash and Java developers to create applications for those devices which wouldn't have to be sold through the Apple store. That would end Apple's control over what sorts of programs could be run on those devices as well as ending their sales monopoly.

They are awful compared to an iPad. If you think you can get a usable 10" tablet for £150 you'd be better of buying a netbook.

None support Java applets (hello 90s), Android ones might support Flash if they're running 2.2 but they run slowly and ruin battery life.
#37
dont just get a tab, for one the tabs will be changing size soon, so android developers will start devloping for the new ones (Bigger screens) and then i guess the older smaller tabs will be forgotten, so wait it out. ipads are cool, but then the ipad 2 is due for release in the the 1st quarter of 2011, which will have more ram, front and back camera for face time, dunno if they will change the processor, and have better battery life and maybe be slimmer too,

but 5% off is good deal so i vote hot

Could never see the point in an Ipad - was one of the 'its just a big iphone isnt it' brigade, but my girlfriend wanted one for her 30th, so reluctantly purchased one. The result - the laptop is rarely used now, its great for quickly surfing the net and typing is suprisignly easier than I thought it would be. Yeah it is over priced, but using it for the last two months has converted me into a believer.

However just like the iphone its the apps you choose to use on it that makes the product what it is.
#39
also Java don't work, but if u jailbreak it, u can get flash for it (its called frash), just you tube it

Totally incorrect. Apple could simply allow Flash and Java based apps to be sold through its Apple store if they wanted to control the monopoly on them. Apple doesn't support these two technologies because of technical reasons.

In the case of Flash for example, it uses a boat load of battery up to run flash websites, it maxs out the CPU, flash is highly insecure, and (relative to other technologies) very buggy. It is only in the past 6 months that any other phones have offered Flash as it is only in the past 6 months that Flash has been semi-not-rubbish on a mobile phone. Additionally, HTML5, will be replacing Flash for everything online in the next few years, so Apple made the choice to put all their efforts into better HTML5 than worrying about the old Flash.
