Good deal!
My mate just came back from America and brought me back a 32gb touch.
I thought I got a bargain with it only costing ~£284 compared to the £330 Apple UK charge for it.

Now I see this, it's not so good any more :(

Voted hot!

I also have one from the states and it's a great bit of kit! It's virtually the same hardware as the iphone and will run all related homebrew and thus can be transformed into a versatile pda/portable game device once jailbroken

i checked on ebay and they go for under £230. well worth checking ebay first.

Why not just buy the iphone i mean really at nearly £300 its kinda expensive just for music
#6
Good deal, would rather pay the extra and have it from a reputable dealer.

Hmmmm.

The wife got us some cheap flights from another deal posted. Might have to look at one in the old Dixons tax free. £280.00 from them.

But I'm in two minds as I have the 605 160 gb with little GB to spare. Problem is, it's rather bulky.

Looks odd when you have it in the trouser pocket. :whistling:

Great Deal!

Shame I've just bought the 16GB iPod Touch over a week ago, I'd have paid the extra for the 32GB version.

There are rumours that a recent Add was accidently released by the Dutch Apple Store that these will be coming down in price, you have been warned, having said that I can't wait and am off to buy this one great price.
Oh I recently bought an electronic item of a reputable buyer via ebay, two months later police came knocking saying the item was stolen the seller was innocent 3rd party am waiting to hear if I can keep the item. ebay buyers beware!
Voted hot.

The ad was on the Dutch iTunes store before it got pulled and quoted a price of €199 for the 8GB iPod Touch, down from the RRP of €279. It could just be a forthcoming sale on the 8GB as they phase this size out to make 16GB the base model.

By the way, Dixons are useless when it comes to Quidco. It never seems to take and you have to lodge an investigation. I bought my iPod Touch in October from them and have just had my sale acknowledged. Still waiting for another in November to be confirmed.

Pfft, wouldn't trust Paypal at all.
The seller has to meet their requirements before you are covered and even then it's not so straightforward as just getting your money back.
It's always gonna be risky buying stuff like this on eBay and even with the Paypal 'protection' I'd still avoid it.

I say that, but I've bought 2 iPods on eBay before :w00t:
Mind you this was years ago when I bought a 1st gen and then a 2nd gen one.
Believe it or not the 2nd gen is still going strong and I already regret replacing it with an expensive 32gb touch when there's plenty of life left in it yet. :?
#17
I'd still hang on.

If you google "ipod touch price cuts" the rumours seem fairly strong that the 8Gb touch will be discontinued and the 16 and 32 GB reduced in price as a result.

If Apple drop their RRPs then one would expect that retailers who charge below RRP will reduce their prices in proportion

What's the deal with jailbreaking these things?
I've read a few forums about it but it was all the technical details so I'm just looking for an overview of this area.
What are the benefits, risks involved etc etc

Very nice.. voted HOT! I've the 8gb model and well happy with it. I'm waiting for the 3G iPhone version to come out in the states... anyone heard anything on this? I'm too interested in this jailbreaker... might google it now :D

I'm confused and any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I'm also looking to purchase the iPhone rather than the Touch, but when you say the new 3G iPhone, do you mean that it will be a 3rd Generation iPhone (as used by Apple for their other iPod products - e.g 3G Nano) or that it will be able to utilize the 3G mobile phone standard - i.e it'll be a 2G iPhone that uses 3G technology?! Anyone any idea when this is likely to be available to UK customers?

Rubbish. Because the iPhone needs a contract with it? Because the iPhone isn't 32GB? Because the iPhone is more expensive? Because the iPhone is bigger? Because the iPod touch ISN'T just music? It has everything the iPhone does apart from the phone and camera part. It plays music, video, has Mail (e-mail client), Weather, Notes, Stocks, iTunes, Pictures, wi-fi with browser, YouTube.. it's not expensive, nor is it just music.

HertzVanRental - the iPhone with 3G (not the third generation model, since we don't even have the second) will be announced in June, so it's quite a way off yet.

£300 isn't expensive for music and a tiny screen ???? - buy a lightweight laptop.

price needs to come down for normal people i.e people who don't think that everything apple does is just fantastic....

Apart from a laptop being 10 times heavier, larger, requiring a power supply around every 1.5 hours, won't fit in your pocket, yeah your absolutely right - buy a laptop instead because it's not all about the itouch being "portable" right???

Sit down before you fall down, fool.
#25
A lightweight laptop for £300? I have an EEE, that doesn't fit in my pocket, nor is it the same size, not even close. And 32GB? You have to be joking, it's 4GB.

Going by the above comments, the iPod Touch isn't just a music player. It's a whole new revolution in computing.

The Touch is and will be turning into more of a mobile Mac than a music player. We already have Safari and Mail, Contacts (Address Book anyone) Calendar (iCal), plus Music and Video (portable iTunes), Photos (iPhoto), Widgets, iTunes Music Store. Granted these are cut down versions of the same Mac applications, but your never gonna edit your movies and photos on an iPod.

And with the App Store coming in June, you'll be able to download all kinds of Applications, not to mention Games to your iPod. The iPod could be the next big handheld games machine, prices should be lower than off the shelf games, no discs or cartridges, just download from iTunes and transfer to your iPod.

So it's worthwhile paying the price tag for the Touch on the basis that it will become something more over the coming months. If you want just a music player then please look at just that from all the other manufacturers out there. Apple is the only manufacturer at the moment with the vision to turn a portable device into something more than just a box full of music.

As mentioned in my previous reply this is a good price for the 32GB and the space could come in handy if you plan on making full use of the iPod for all the extra Apps/Features coming soon. Or if you can be patient, wait a bit and see if Apple discontinues the 8GB and lowers the price even more.

Lol! And the dumbest post of the day goes to...........YOU!

You think that someone should buy a laptop to listen to music on the go so that they get more for their money?! Yeah, I know loads of people who go jogging with their laptop. A laptop is really good to take down the gym while u listen to music isn't it? Oh hang on a minute.....it isn't.
#28
I suppose its a good deal, but I don't agree with people sasying £300 is not expensive, and there are plenty of devices out there that can do all the things an ipod touch can, they just don't have a touch screen (a psp for example, or a pda), these things are not revolutionary. What the ipod touch does better than anything else is ease of use, its got one of the best interfaces out there for any portable device, but I still think its overpriced, if this was around the £200 mark it would be fantastic.

many devices play music - and most are way cheaper than £300....

Always good to hear from the MacNutters....

Why can't people just vote a deal on the price VS RRP? ****in idiots.

For the record, I hate Apple products.

I'm not a mac nutter, I don't much like apples ethics, if you took the time to read my post properly you will see i was actually mentioning that the comment was dumb because the poster suggested using a laptop in place of an mp3 player. Put your glasses on next time
