Hi Guys/Girls,

First post so please be gentle!

Apple have just started the back to school promotion again by the looks of things. If you buy a new Macbook, Macbook Pro, Mac or Mac Pro you can get a quite substantial rebate of a new iPod purchased at the same time. See below.

iPod Rebate Amount
iPod Touch (all models) £145
iPod Classic 120GB £145
iPod Nano 16GB £130
iPod Nano 8GB £190
iPod Shuffle 4GB £55

I got that table of the Apple website, I think there is a typo on the rebate for the 16GB and 8GB Nano.

I think this deal is only for students so sorry if your not one!

It's a pretty good deal when you take into account that you get a hefty amount of a mac if you are a student anyway.

Also the deal is valid until September 8th so it might be waiting until next month, after the Mac event WWDC, when some new macs could be announced

Back to School - always used to frighten the living daylights out of me at the beginning of the school holidays. And now it's starting in Whitsun half-term! lol
#2
wow, i'm surprised this is hot already - where are all the people going "waah waah i can't afford a mac, therefore they're a waste of money and this deal is cold http://i42.tinypic.com/28881vc.gif" that usually clutter up apple threads?? lol..

great deal, voted hot

edit: and just in case there was any doubt, the nano rebates in the current T&Cs are defo erroneous.. here is the rebate list from the american promo site for comparison:

http://i43.tinypic.com/dyw4i.gif

still, even once they correct this, it's still a blinding deal! if they refresh the mac line before september as well, this will be an absolute scorcher! :w00t:
#3
Thanks. Wait for this for long time. but I will wait after 8th of june.

Good value, if your a rich kid or can fool your parents in buying you a very expansive machine. Though I suppose image is everything at school these days :)
#5

ehhhh.. macromurs haha its in the US they are doing this but i assume we will follow suit

its the iphone that will be free however you still pay the contract ... apparently

you have to be a student that is 18 or over ,annoying as im 16!
#9
I hardly think anyone is going to blow their student loan on this but if your parents are loaded and you want a Mac it's a deal.
#10
Was about to post this and found it here already! I have been doing bits of research on buying my first Mac.. glad I didn't buy one yet... now with their 0% finance + students discount + ipod touch.. I can't seem to find better offer elsewhere! Hot Hot from Me!

then you'd be wrong.. i work in IT support for a university (not a posh one; a cuffy one that used to be a poly) and the amount of students who have macs now is unreal.. a couple of years ago we didn't even offer mac support because they were so few and far between, but nowadays we get mac queries from students almost as much as PC!

bear in mind that students get tidy discounts on mac hardware/software.. you can get a brand new imac for £800, or a macbook for £600, and there are pretty good finance offers as well.. chuck in a free ipod and you can see how they justify it to themselves! £600, minus the ipod that "oh, i was going to buy anyway" and you're left paying £455 for a pretty damn high spec. computer that looks sexy to boot :)
#13
also lets not forget the printer rebate on top as well!
#14
Hot from me.

Fantastic deal. i got it last year and saved around £270 quid. just put the free ipod and printer on eBay ;)
#15
back to school? Dont you need to be off school first :whistling:
#16
This is a very good deal. I bought my new macbook last year with this deal and the printer rebate and it saved me a few penny's!! Im on my second mac now and changing over from windows was the best thing I ever did. And now with all the mac support out there and boot camp I cannot see any reason not to change...... apart from the cost!! Lol
#17
dont forget you get student discount on the mac too!!!!
#18
Instead of using the standard education link to get it down to £703 ish, if you used UCAS then sign up to http://yougo.co.uk and you get 13% off all macs.

This means you can get the white macbook for £658 + the ipod touch effectively free + if you add the cheapest printer included in the printer rebate offer it works out to be £0.63 after rebate :)

So you could get a Macbook and basic printer for about £550 after rebate and selling the ipod! Bargain! And you could sell the printer and get it cheaper still!

Have people noticed the price of the base spec macbook white has gone up £26 ? Was £618 about a week ago.
#20
Knowing Apple they'd announce the refresh, but probably introduce it after September 8th...

Yep but they increased the spec (a bit) again. Hopefully snow leopard should be out by mid-june so will wait till then.

It's because they have upped the spec on it a little bit. The hard drive is about 40gb bigger, the processor is now a 2.13 GHz rather than a 2 GHz and the speed of the ram has been upped.

Yeah I just read about that, weird it was just done last night. but nice to see a little bump in specs. The RAM speed was also bumped from 667 to 800 :)

I thought apple released info on the event and there wasn't any mention of release of Snow Leopard :(

I got through 4 years of university with only student loans and money I'd earned at low paid jobs working during a year in industry and some summer holidays. Didn't take a penny from my parents (OK just a bit of summer free room & board on some of the years). I took advantage of a similar promotion in my second year and got a good price on an ibook, ipod and printer, got a good few years use out of those. :-D
#25
I'm glad I waited to buy mine, will put my order through shortly, last time when a new OS was released apple offered free upgrades if you had bought within a month, so will probably put my order though on 1st June :)

I'll do the rebate for the iPod but don't think it is worth it for the printer imo.

Sorry but how are you getting the printer for £0.63. The cheapest I can see after rebate is £9.95

I think he made a mistake. It's 63p when you don't include VAT, so in reality all your paying is the VAT on the printer
#28
Can you get the rebate for both the printer and the iPod or is it just one or the other?

Where is this mentioned? It states that there is a limited 1 year warranty in the tech specs.
#34
quidco anyone? They offer 4% but then state:

*If buying through the Education Store, cashback will only be paid on sales made through the 'School or any other education establishment' option. No cashback can be paid on sales made through the 'University, or other Higher Education establishment' and 'College, or other

Hey, I cant quite see how this works, I have followed the links and signed up on yougo.co.uk but after clicking the link through I can only see the best price at £703. Im not using a UNI network but could always find a way of doing this if that is what makes the difference.

Also is the 0% finance available on the student deals too...

Cheers
