Just a heads up really - if your looking to buy a Mac related product, wait until (coming) Friday as Apple will have a deal on (as done in the previous 5 years).

In previous years, they've knocked off prices from their Mac range and iPods.

This 'sale' is a one day offer - Friday 28th November 2008. Available online and offline. If you buy online, you can also take advantage of Quidco ;)

EDIT: This offer is a global offer (yes, includes UK)

EDIT 2: Quidco are offering 5% for Apple today only (FRIDAY 28th Nov 08)

Do Apple run this promotion for UK Customers or just USA ?

'Black Friday' and Thanksgiving are both US holidays/events. I'd be surprised if they did it over the pond too...
#3
Is this not just for US customers as it mentions "Thanksgiving"?
#4
I believe its across the board. I seen the offer in the Apple Store regent street last year.
#5
do you know how much they reduced things by in previous years? :?
#6
Meh, here you go: (taken from Macrumors.com) - full link here

OP is correct I think, Black Friday is supposedly going to be running in the UK aswell
#8
Can I kindly ask why people are voting this cold? Seems like a darn good deal to me.
#9
Voted hot - no idea why anyone would vote otherwise!
#10
Forgot about this, only got my new MBP a week ago, ah well.

Well worth it if you're needing a new Mac/iPod.
#11
Don't expect much from this, offer prices haven't beaten refurb prices in the past.
#12
the references to previous events are confusing the matter i think.... (showing different dates etc)
#13
Wasn't the discount last year pretty rubbish?

Yeah the Airport Express was one of the items that said had come down in price at this event. However, generally it was not well received and there were cheaper ways to get the products rather than this sale.

Loved the comment: Great to see the itunes £15 in the sale.....for, £15!!

As Tesco say... "every little helps".

Any discount with Apple is deemed good, seen as they don't offer discounts at any other time in the year (in comparison to other retailers).

Apparently it was, but 2 years ago I got an £85 reduction on a MacBook, so it's worth having a look.
#22
Thanks for the heads-up! Will keep an eye out.
#23
ha ha.. an Apple sale!
#24
I'd like one of the new macbooks to replace my black macbook but can't justify the price.

Doubt sale will knock much off. I already discount at the online apple store through my employer so will be interesting to see if the discount prices are lower.
#25
Hot indeed!

Newsflash cold voters - You have to pay more money for a better quality product (kind of works for most things in the world). If you get a one day chance at a reduced price then that's great!

Note: Look out for places like Dixons that had a 10% of everything on Christmas Day last year. I bought the lowest MacBook priced at £599/£540 - That came with Leopard the new OS and all the new iLife software a Mac comes with (that PC buyers forget about).

Don't forget 3% quidco too!

Also anyone who worries about Microsoft Office costing them £+++ then don't worry just download OpenOffice (free software) and that will fully open all MS Word / Powerpoint / Excel documents. See link below.

Do you think Apple will do the educational discount on top of their special offers?

I'm pretty certain they will. Education discount runs all year round - for university students only. Plus, its not as if they are offering a £100 discount sale on Mac's in the sale.

Not a chance, it will be one or the other.

However much I tried to like OpenOffice I eventually went back to MS Office. To me OO is like using a partly finished piece of software that was much slower than MS Office to use. I was mainly interested in MS Access and the OO version was appalling in it's conversion

Im looking to buy Macbook and im a student . Ya reckon you get

The apple discount then

the educational discount (14%)

then qudico ??

Could this possibly work ? Sounds crazy to me
#33
No way will they do both discount. As for quido with apple products, ive ordered tones of apple products which have tracked through quidco and are still tracking. Earliest one is feb 2008....I dont expect to receive it.
#34
VAT might be down to 15% by then too :-)

Hot - definitely getting myself a macbook pro if they do a deal on them.

However, due to the collapse in sterling, macbooks are already cheaper in the UK than in the US (when you remove the sales tax / VAT) so I think it's doubtful they'll do much of a sale over here.
#35
Cold, inferior items that are alreay overpriced to what competetors have to offer, a discount wont make any difference to this!!
#36
wow apple are so nice to offer a discount on their overpriced polished turd. well done apple, we love you
#37
How the hell can anyone vote this hot until we know what the deals are on Friday?!
