But nowhere does that article recommend you go out and BUY one.... Sure if you have one, it still makes a good doorstop, chopping board, fly swat etc.

Obsolete. I'm 100% a apple fan- but it does **** me off they won't let you upgrade old phones and iPads to the latest os.

Ok take your point but hey im new to this and 2p off a litre of petrol in 3 garages in Birmingham is apparently very hot
? So I thought i would throw my hat in the ring with something that was actually cheaper than it used to be and available to everyone. Just saying :-)

Apple should allow these to be officially jail broken once they've stopped updating them as they really are still decent but if kit, but unfortunately useless..
Ps that article was written in 2013 and it suggested they were glorified you tube players then.

Lol, in that case you better post a deal for every bit of tech out there that is more than 6 months old!

Remember that Apple are just control freaks like micosoft.... stopping the end user from using open source software on their devices is disgusting and the very reason i would never buy an Apple product.

Why should apple or any other manufacture support devices that have been hacked and cause instability?

I dont think Apple should "support" ... just allow, its the purchasers choice isnt it. no offence intended btw

So someone creates a piece of software that over-clocks the cpu to the point it burns it out, or software that does something funky to the battery charging and it fails. Result broken ipad. Apple then has to fix it.It not about supporting it, its a bit more about having to deal with the problems that have nothing to do with them. Opening it up may also might create security problems. Just my opinion.

There's a reason why and that's because it makes the device near enough useless, you used an iPhone 4 running iOS 7?

Unfortunately, it's nearly useless even without the update. I was using one till few months ago, far too many issues with crashing Safari and constant, slow reloading

My old trusted xoom is far better (far from good though)
