Aren't you looking at the RRP price of the 3G model?
#3
Yeah, sorry
#4
How is £589.95 affordable?
#5
How much?!
#6
It isn't how affordable it is, it is about how cheap it is versus other providers, just because some people cannot or do not want to buy one does not mean it cannot be a deal!

pity the fool!

JooJoo is so much better! £600 for and ipod touch? dear god people have no brains!

Maybe not but after trying an android touchpad (10") I quickly handed it back. The apps are terrible (as I have found with my Wildfire android phone). Can't afford an ipad but there is no way anyone can compare what is available app wise for that and anything for android. IMO it's like Windows 3.1 compared to XP.
Maybe in a few years when android developers play catch-up, will the applications be hopefully more even.

I can think of a lot of cheaper ways to look like a complete ****.

Really?
It has a lack of storage. No multitouch, a dodgy touch screen. 3 hours battery life is cited many reviews - without actually using it other than leaving it on LOL. No applications - can't even playback your own videos or pictures. Handy that. While it does support flash, something that the Ipad doesn't do, it's the same experience on any number of netbooks based on the same hardware - slow, unresponsive and generally painful, which is a real shame as it has very little else to sell it.
It's one of those devices some one has launched without a long term plan, it will be dead and you wont see a firmware update that fixes it's problems and you are stuck with a big fat tablet with no resale value at all.
I own neither, I see no need for tablets in my life. But I do know that Apple gear keeps at least as much extra value in it's resale on ebay or the second hand market as you spent extra on it.

What bobbler said. Every review I saw of the JooJoo panned it to Kingdom Come and beyond.

its runs on linux under the hood, has a usb port and and sd card slot, the limitations except for battery life are none-existant.

and its half the price. plus with nvidia tegra stuff just round the corner, thers will be plenty of stuff that splatters the ipad. iPad is great for people with more money than brains/skill

OK, so basically the JooJoo struggles to run a cosmetically altered full desktop operating system on mediocre Atom based hardware. Problem number one: Linux doesn't always scale down nearly as well as it should and its limitations on devices like this are blindingly obvious.

It's half the price because the manufacturers behind JooJoo used sub-par components with zero investment in OS and refinement to make the whole package work smoothly. Plus, as bobbler pointed out, there is nothing in the way of a roadmap with the JooJoo. I would not hold my breath for updates.

As for the Tegra; it's already here but the one thing that is apparent is that nobody is really going to challenge the iPad seriously on price. These slates are going to cost.

linux doesnt scale down very well? what world do you live in? android is linux with a dalvik vm between apps and os - its pretty speedy, a lot of pvr's use linux as an embedded os, as well as anything else with low memory footprint requirements. With an x86 processor theres no need for a roadmap, you can easily just put windows 7 on it, or any other OS.

You have been living too long in Apple world to realise we have more choices than just what the manufacturer gives us.

Atoms are faster than the iPad A4:
