You can now pre-order the new Apple Iphone 4 direct from the UK Apple Strore.

Prices are £499 for the 16GB and £599 for the 32GB.

So far you can only pre-order in black.

May seem expensive but could give a good indication of the PAYG prices which are usually cheaper.

Quidco is available too.

Thanks

No wonder apple don't believe in Memory cards, if they can get away with charging £100 for 16gb :woot:

This is the sim free price with no contract, a PAYG phone is usually a little cheaper as the network will subsidise part of the phone and also lock it.
#6
I thought they would have priced it similar to the 3gs prices. This is a bit too expensive.will be waiting in hope it falls or discount code comes about.
#7
I suppose its not too bad for Sim Free, but your better off getting an iPad and saving some pennies!

HTC will be laughing!

don't mean to pi** on your parade, but you might find that's payg prices not simfree. apple have never sold simfree in the Uk, simfree has only been availble in certain countries.
#10
3gs 16gb seems to be a better buy compared to the 8gb

From the website: -

"Your new iPhone. Direct from Apple and ready to use. When you purchase your iPhone from the Apple Online Store, you’ll get it SIM-free. So you can sign up for service with the carrier of your choice and change your carrier at any time. Questions? Call our iPhone experts at 0800 048 0408."

How much.....No thanks
#13
You can order SIM FREE. I have just reserved on at my local store and the options you get are PAYG, Pay Monthly or SIM FREE.
#14
but whats the point of this?? if you want to own one outright, then buy a PAYG (probs cheaper) and get the one year unlimited sim-saves a lot of money even for light users who only have their emails on push.

dont need the sim card-sell it for a few quid.

in any case-this is rrp,so NOT a deal
#15
Don't forget quidco - 3% (I know the OP mentioned it but I'm always forgetting to use it) , so £17.97 off the 32Gb iPhone. Still expensive but looks good.
#16
So how does this work? You need to contact your phone provider for a micro sim?
#17
barky;8840914
and its good info to pass on m8,but this isnt a deal-you should post stuff like this is misc as info-not in deals.

a deal is a saving on rrp,not a saving on ebay prices or the like.

I do agree with you, however I felt that as this was an item a lot of people would be interested in, together with the fact i'm sure stores such as play.com will try to charge a lot more I would post it on here.
#18
If the Post is saving you money, then it is a deal.

Get off his back for crying out loud. He's helping the masses. Go play with your 4 year old Nokia with the Nokia tone and get down poundland.

He is merely pointing out how you can save money over the lifespan of a contract compared to a carrier contract.

Yes the iPhone is expensive but you pay for quality.

Other points...
- iPad wont fit in your pocket
- HTC can laugh all they want but only when the sort out their app store.

End of Line.

It's a sim-free phone - you don't get anyting with it (i.e. no sim, no included calls, texts or internet, just the phone).

This and the new Xbox are not Hot deals at all... just hot products!

I want a new iPhone, my old 2g is looking its age now but I'll be ******ed if I am gonna pay these prices. I may as well get an iPad and a HTC Desire for the money!
#23
How does the new 'micro sim' thing work, i.e I have an existing tmobile contract that I would like to use with the new iPhone but its a standard sim?
#24
is the rumours true you can trade in your old iphone for the new one at discount price?

Same here. You can cut a standard sim down to micro sim size either with scissors or with a micro-sim cutter (a device that looks like a hole-punch).
#26
The reason that Apple can get away with this, is because of their huge fan-base who will buy it whatever the cost
#27
to be fair, you get what you pay for, my iphone 3g has outlasted most phones i have owned!! I will be upgrading it to the new one!!

And you can still get £175 or more for your old 3G if you flog it, I'm not sure how many other 2 year old phones you can say that about.

ahh so its not 'new tech' its just the same without the extra plastic around the simcard chip. no problems.

If you buy an iPhone 4 on 24th June for £499 and come to sell it in 2 years, you'll get more than £200 back - Maybe more if treated well! If you buy any HTC device, Nokia, SE, Samsung (unlocked) on 24th June and wait 2 years then will it be worth £200+ after 2 years?! No!

Shame there's no white version yet, I'll be waiting for that. Fed up of shiny black gadgets that show fingerprints easily, while is better and being an original iPod owner I like white ipods better than the black.
#32

Or just ask your phone company to send you out a micro sim?
#33

That isn't a microsim cutter mate, it is a unlocking film sim cutter.

Which of the HTC's:thinking:?? They've got loads of fantastic phones. Those running android or windows mobile? Android has tons of apps as well in case you failed to check. With other HTC phones running windows mobile like the HD2, there is so much variety of apps if one cares to look for them. Simply because they are not all locked in an "app store" does not mean they dont exist :whistling:.

I definitely agree, this is NOT a deal and HTC must be pissing their pants because Apple seems to have lost the plot :p. The iphone may be popular but a £600 asking price a deal breaker for most.

Another of the fallacies iphone fans peddle:w00t:. I dunno about Nokia, Saumsung and others but have you tried purchasing any old HTC devices lately? Just go on ebay or any other website and check completed listings for any of the many excellent HTC phones. Compare them to their original selling prices and come again. The list is endless, HTC Magic, HTC Hero, HTC Touch Pro 2, HTC Touch Diamond, HTC Touch HD. HTC HD2 just to name a few. I purchased my HTC Touch HD almost two years ago for £370 and sold it last month on ebay for £190. A bit over 50% of the original value.

Just face it, iphones are simply over priced through crafty marketing. There are tons of reasonably priced yet equally good if not better phones out there at more reasonable prices IMHO
#39
I'm sure the sales will be good. There are quite a few people with lots of money to spend and many others who will simply crumble under the marketing blitz we're probably going to see very soon.

No offence to anyone but if you're happy splurging £600 on a new iphone whose major strength is technology others have had for years then be my guest. It is touted to have video calling, cut n paste and multitasking. My old sonyericsson W550i from 2005 could do video calling.

I'm sure we'll see the adverts very soon selling it as a "new feature" and the kinds will be all over it like a pig in a pile of turd. The sales will be good because Apple and its iphone carriers will do what they do best; adverts

Remember this is a sim free price, the vast majority of people will be paying less upfront on contract. I'm sure all smartphones are around this price unsubsidised by the phone networks
