Quidco on carphone warehouse is £20 for the iphone, it has its own catagory on quidco now.

O2 and Apple are the only other outlets selling this, you may possibly be able to get £23.33 or £35 quidco on O2 website but im not sure, hopefully someone can confirm this.

At some point there will be a £23 off apple code which would make it £246 - 3% quidco = £238.62
- hajj_3

EDIT:

Order from Apple Store, using £23 off code: CPUU3SLGLH

quidco is: £6.27

So total after discount code and quidco is officially: £239.23

So its a crisp £30 cheaper than standard iphone deal

Voted cold, as you have to sign up for an 18 month contract at a minimum of £35pm, so £630+ line rental for just 200 minutes a month.
suspended#2
urm voting cold shouldnt be about the product, its about the price! this is the cheapest there is. also you dont have to enter the contract you can unlock the iphone and use a payg sim, so have an ace phone for £238.
#3
I had heard that there was problems unlocking the phone as the iphone needs updates which would block the unlock??? But still best deal on the market at mo I go hot.:)

Is that true? I thought you had to take the contract up with O2.

Best deal available that I can see though so voted hot.

Erm your talking rubbish you have to enter into an 18 month contract on o2
#6
Why would people vote this cold? I have no interest in an iphone, I personally think its just an over hyped phone.

However, this is saving you £20 off of RRP. You have to take out a contract no matter where you buy this from on the high street. No other store would be offering this cheaper.

Voted hot.

i also warmed it up a little as we vote for quality of product and price dont we ?

NO, you dont enter to a contract until you get home and you logon to itunes and activate it and choose a contract. BUT you can install hacked firmware on it that makes it sim free (unlocked) so you can put any payg simcard in!

get your facts straight showman!

hacked firmware

And then the next apple update bricks the phone.

So basically, you spend <£250 , and then hack the phone. Lose your warranty and then cannot update the software.

Still if you follow the iPhone button / banner and add to cart
carry on checkout and it never asks you the contract option.

It is possible at the moment to order an iphone without contract (due to website glitch).

But I am sure they wont honour it.

Or maybe you will have to purchase contract while activating....

am i talking rubbish? well look what i have here: http://iphone.unlock.no/

instructions to make it unlocked, you do not enter into a contract till you take the phone home hook it upto itunes and choose a contract, instead of doing this you can unlock it.

dont say im talking rubbish when you dont have a CLUE what you are talking about

you dont have to update your firmware every version you know, its only updated when you try to update it, it isnt automatically done, plus if you use good unlock software it wont brick it, there are some that could tho. updating your firmware just adds small new features, aint necessary, most ppl are bothered about calls, texts, the ipod etc.

i think you didnt read my posts about not entering the agreement till you are at home before which you can hack it to be unlocked and work with any simcard? think you need glasses mate. do some research, you dont enter into the contract when you are at the shop or if you order online, you do it yourself on itunes at home.

Hajj_3 is right...

Read my earlier post as well or go onto o2.co.uk

When buying the phone you do NOT buy a contract at that time.
I am not sure how it is done later (iTunes activation maybe)

Try and buy yourself online.....it will let you checkout without adding a contract.

It doesn't let you with any other contract phone.
#19
Stop arguing, it is possible to hack the iphone so it doesn't need a contract. IMO this is cold only because the product is poor value, it's a good price but not good value for money for most people.
banned#20
I know all that, when you buy the phone you are agreeing to only use the phone on O2 and not unlock it read the T & C's as your giving all your details to the site to buy it I'd say it's pretty easy for o2 to check whether you connect it to them, I.m not on about hacking it, to use it legally you have to use o2 at the moment
#21
I've had one a month or so. Amazing device. Was a devout supporter of windows mobile/pocket pc devices before getting an iPhone from the states and unlocking it.

I'm not worried about the bricked phone thing. I got mine just after that and theres so many people who do not want to be on AT+T or O2 just to own one.

Voting it cold is retarded, its the only place and only way you're going to get one.

correct, someone who actually reads:)

just ordered 1 myself, will unlock it, you can also use custom applications once its hacked, there are lots of cool ones already out, the official SDK will be out in jan, we think this is cos ppl were hacking their ipods to put custom apps on, so apple caught onto this and wants it to be official and ppl have to pay to get their apps certified.

Yes you are right here...
They can go to lengths of barring the handset on all networks via IMEI.
Depends on how keen they are to catch the runaways...
You never know.

For this reason and it being a bit lacking in technology....
I am OUT!!!!
(saying in Dragon's Den's style)

well at least they release iPhone 2 or make it cheaper.....
#26
There is nothing stopping you using the Iphone unlocked on any carrier.

Also fwiw the plan includes unlimited data, which is kinda cool.
#27
so can this be bought on a PAYG with 02?
suspended#28
webcami, £238 after quidco aint too bad really, k850i costs around that and the 3g phones cost more than this (assuming you dont enter into the contract with o2). and obviously it has 8gb and works like an ipod, so its OK value if you are just using it for that, but the custom apps that are out make this great value.
#29
so without sounding too much of a fool, it is then possible to buy without agreeing into a contract?
#30
in france it is illegal to lock a phone to one network
thats y alot of uk customers are waiting for this to come out in france so they can pop over there and get one which is free to use on any network etc
p.s read it in the paper lol

no, you buy the phone then instead of activating and entering into a contract when you get home instead you hack it and then put in any simcard you like except the network "3 (three)". £245.50 or £238 after quidco.

yes, you are SUPPOSED to enter into a contract when you get home and you do this via itunes, but instead you can hack it and put in any sim card you like. there are 250,000 hacked iphones out there apple say, cant remember the percentage of iphone, its 18% or similar.

I would rather wait for a 3G version with Video Camera and Built in GPS and a very good quality camera with flash.....

or else for post Christmas price of iPhones imported from France for my peace of mind

hehe, yeah, same is happening in canada, their laws say that company must make their phones unlocked. Once those unlocked iphones out its likely they can extract the firmware and clone it to everyone else's phones so that it can be unlocked for life even if they want to update the firmware which is very cool.

you enter it on the page after you enter your card details, its the final page, like a summary page where you click "confirm" or whatever.

Surely if you only activate a contract when you log on to itunes then O2 cant do a thing if you use another provider ? also arent you buying this item to basically do as you please with it ( within legal reason of course ) the 02 contract bit is because they are the only ones offering the contract ??

Personally though its the usual christmas over hyped electrical toy that will be superceeded by something else lol.
