What does this do?

Let's you plug in a digicam to your iPod (not the nano though).

Basically it means that you can use your iPod as a massive storage device for your digital photos.

Instead of buying a 1GB or 2GB card for your camera you can have 30/40/80/160GB of storage.

Useful if your going on a long trip and are planning to take lots of photos.

Don't need one myself but voted hot, great price.

Just to let you know, this does not work with the very latest iPods announced this week. Unless Apple do some sort of iPod update for the new models.

There were a load of 1st gen Shuffle extras all reduced to a pound though these are pretty old bits of kit now so not worth posting on here.

There were about 10 of these camera connectors in my local ASDA so they must be about...

Nick.

Where the hell did that Freeview comment come from???

The blackwood store sells mp3s. Its right in the front of the store (where they sell digital cameras & print photos), same goes for the merthyr store.

dandoc2 does this mean you have checked Sutton? I'm interested too but won't bother going to check Sutton if you already have.

I'm nowhere near an Asda. :-(

£10 (PayPal or bank transfer) if someone can get me one? (please PM first - don't want to end up with five of 'em!)
#19
Just to let you know, this won't work on the iPods that have just come out. I assume you're all buying for 5G iPods though, so you'll be alright.

Here is the link to it in Apple's store:
http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=6C04E07A&nplm=M9861

There is a page which lists compatibility with cameras. One word of caution, from the reviews I read in the past this is very slow at transferring your pictures.

There is this hacking page on Make which shows you can connect a 6in1 memory reader to it and get it to transfer straight from your card with using your camera:
http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2005/06/ipod_photo_conn.html

Finally here is a review showing how it works and with some mention of speed, 12 minutes for 235MB:
http://playlistmag.com/reviews/2005/03/ipodcamconnect/index.php

If you're going on holiday and have a large capacity iPod that you can store all your photos on (and can leave it overnight to do it) then this is perfect.

In case its useful:

"Compatible with iPod with color display.
Not compatible with iPod nano."

Bother.

If you check sutton tell me if they have any and ill do vice versa for beddington

I got an ipod mini will this work even though not colour screen? but might buy an old 20gb photo --- so how does this work do you hook the camera up via usb or something or is there an sd slot in the adaptor --Have a casio exilim Z60 will that work

Great offer, thanks for posting.

Had a bit of trouble getting it though; went to the big Asda Wal-Mart near Swindon, and the assistants there are absolute divs. The conversation was like this:

Me: "Hi, have you got any iPod camera connectors in at the moment"
(woman looks at me like I've offered to slaughter her kids)
Asda woman: "Erm, no idea what you've said"
Me: "Ah look, there they are, in the glass case that's immediately in front of you, you are leaning on it in fact"
Asda woman: "Oh. Yes. Did you want one?"
Me: "No, I was actually after a hat for my penguin. What do you think?"
(Actually I didn't say this, I said "Yes please, two for me and one for my friend" (workmate who was standing next to me))
Asda woman: "Okay, I'll look out back"
(Goes out back for ages)
Asda woman: "No, there are none out back."
Me: "Okay, can I have the two that are in the display case that you've been leaning on then please?"

Asda woman then gets the keys, but the lock is busted and the key has snapped off.

She then yells "SHAYNIE!!!". "SHAYNIE!!!!".

Shaynie wobbles over.

Asda woman: "Shaynie, you got the key for this cabinet?"
Shaynie: "Nah"
(Shaynie looks at me)
Shaynie: "Did you want something from the cabinet?"
Me: "No, I just wanted to let the air out you daft cow"
(Actually once again I didn't say this, but I wish I had)
Me: "Yes, I'd like those iPod camera connectors please."
Shaynie: "I ain't gotta key, I'll fetch security"

So Shaynie rings security, meanwhile Asda woman has gone home as it's past her 12:30am shift.

At this point I spot an iPod connector on the counter, boxed, new. "Can I just take that one please? I've got to get back to work."

Shaynie: "Don't you want the others now?"
Me: "Yes, but I don't think the counter is going to open is it?"
Shaynie: "No."
Me: "Okay, I'll just take the one then."

To cut a long story short, if anyone has a hacksaw and wants the last remaining two iPod camera connectors in Swindon's Asda Wal-Mart, get down there quick and hope that Shaynie has gone off shift.

AAARRGRGGHHHHH!!!

Great peice of kit. None in Middlebrook Bolton (blank looks all round) but managed to get one from Leigh. Works fine with my D80 and wifes Canon A710. Won't work with the £1 SD card reader from Pound Empire though (Just drains the IPOD battery)

Heat and Rep added
