PC World will match amazon's price for any item.

I got a 80gb ipod classic for £140.97 - and PC World have currently got an offer on for a free Belkin case with any ipod classic or nano purchase. This has a value of £24.99!

Weirdly, and unexpected really, they will give you this, regardless of the price match. I also believe I was entitled to 10% of the difference, but as this amounted to around £1.80 I didn't bother to query it!

Just noticed the package is also available online, although you have to ring them to confrim the price match (and they may moan about it not being an identical deal). However, if you get it sorted, there is also a 5% off PC World voucher flying about on HUKDs, and (really pushing your luck now), quidco could maybe get you another 2.5% off. I would doubt the quidco bit though!

I even said "look I know its pushing my luck, but any chance of the free case", and he was immediately "oh yeah if it goes through the till thats fine" and it did!

No.
And even if they did, what would it matter?

The new Classic models usually come out in September. As for why it matters, surely you'd want the latest model / most capacity for the cheapest price?

But the latest model / capacity is not going to be at a cheap price...
There always something bigger, better & shinier just around the corner to temp the idiots away from their money...

The nano is prob getting a refresh in september, the classic will most likely only get a spec increase - ie: more space. 80 is fine for me, and they hold their value well anyway.

oh and for the person who asked who I pricematched it against: in my first post I do say "PC World will match amazon's price for any item" :)

Precisely... a good time to be keeping an eye on the 'discountinued' stock for a good deal

No, but the old model will be cheaper (even if it is only a little bit - and as this is a thread about saving £18 I'd think that little bit matters to some people) as stores clear stocks.

I just wish I could get a decent 160gb+ mp3 player - it seems most manufacturers have abandoned the capacity top end in favour of tiny little flash drives. :/

I've never been more frustrated with a portable audio player than an iPod Classic. Even my iPhone is a 'freak' audio player.

Yes, and be aware PC World will NOT price match dixons.

I know you weren't suggesting they did, but just to make it clear :)

Vibeone, is the case a good one because i was thinking of buying an 80GB Classic from Dixons and then getting a skin from Apple which i fancied. However, if this works out cheaper and the case is good, i might just go through the hassle of doing a price match. Thanks :p

Erm its belkin, and its one of those hard acrylic things. I got a clear one, but their may have been a choice I'm not sure. PC World were selling it for £24.99 so I'd hope it was good. It seems OK. Its got a few scratches on the back already, but the ipod itself, which I've kept in the case at all times, is absolutely spotless.

It covers the screen, and the clickwheel, but the clickwheel still functions normally.
