With Ipods can you dowload MP3s form any site or even your own pre-downloaded ones OR do you have to use their website to buy tunes from??? cos if its the latter then voted COLD, and same for ANY Ipod as that would be rediculous to think you had to buy from Apple and had no choice.

Errrrr.....You don't really think the Ipod to be as popular as it is if you were limited in terms of what music you could on it do you?

Unfortunately voucher code only works if you have never ordered before. Rejects when ordering saying I have already used the voucher? Last time I ordered from JL was in May last year!

Depends on what you are looking for. I've had an Ipod shuffle for 18 months which I only use for running. I just clip it on to the top of my shorts and you don't even notice it's there.
The autopick feature in itunes is good because it means I always have a random selection of music.

Sony walkmans USED to be better than Ipods in every way... unfortunately with the new batch theye caved into public pressure to make it drag and drop and windows media compatible... they reduced the sound channels by one, they lost gapless playback (wheras the ipods picked that up on the new generation) and the new IPOD are so huge storage wise you can afford to record lossless on the biggy jobs...

Used to love sonys (The big clunky bar of soap NWA's were superb soundwise). the new ones are DIRE!

TBH this is only meant for times when you dont want to carry something huge around with you and at that it excels... I think this is a great price... voted well and truly hot!

Which is what MOST people want these days exactly...who wants to have to go through a third party programme just to get your MP3s off your comuter and onto your player - it astounds me that people use Ipods becasue it just seems too much fannying about to get your music onto your player when it can be as simple as drag and drop.

Get one of these instead: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132943

Nearly a third of the price and does exactly the same thing.

Looks cool, however it is half the price, not a third, when delivery is included (or probably nearer twice the price if you live in NI).

EDIT: Looks nice, available in various colours, comes with a mains charger (useful for hols) & a 2GB version is £14.99 or £17.57 delivered in you live in GB, £25.22 if you live in NI - could save a fiver getting it posted twice (to friend/relative in GB, then posted on).

It wont sync with iTunes, looks tacky and cheap and is likely to last about as third as long however.

I wonder why?

I have one and it is far from tacky and cheap.

Please prove that.

You can use iShuffle with this so it's pretty much drag and drop. No need to use iTunes bloatware when you want to copy over a few tracks :p

This is a handy, and pretty good looking mp3 player. I'd never pay £27 for a 1gb mp3 player, nor a 1gb ipod. I know generic 1gb £8 mp3 players have worse sound quality (very marginally), but there isn't that much of a difference, and if your buying a small 1gb mp3 player in the first place it isnt going to be your main worry.

If your so worried about quality, get another good brand named 1gb mp3 player such as a creative. Dont follow the crowd and go for ipod just because they spend millions of £££'s per month on advertising and celebrity endorsment etc.

Do you really fanny about looking through 3000 individual tracks then? I just plug my ipod in, and then take it back out, it's automatically synced and i'm not having to think about it.

I used to be the same, everything of mine was in individual artist folders (i could never stand the Artist - Title.mp3 scheme) then sorted by albums. I'd not use winamp or WMP's sorting stuff or playlists cos I'd pick out songs individually through a taskbar folder shortcut.

Then I came to realise I was sick of listening to the same things everytime, started using iTunes to organise everything (didn't use WMP because at the time it didn't update tag information) and i've not looked back since.

I've got an old iPod photo in the car hooked up to a Pioneer via the dock connector, brilliant piece of kit. I've just bought one of these shuffles for the gym and its been fantastic. You don't need a screen for 1GB of music, you don't have to **** about with changing AAA batteries over every 4 hours like the cheap pen drives, and as mentioned before, you can just choose autofill in itunes for a 'random' selection.

i love my shuffle, listen to it every day on the way to work, the way home from work, in bed, at the gym, on the train/bus, when i'm bored, and unlike a normal ipod i don't waste time having to think what to listen to because it dictates the playlist for me! the earphones weigh more than this thing, its about the weight of a two pound coin.

oh and battery life is amazing on this too compared to the other ipods, i guess thats due to the lack of screen.
only takes about a minute to fill it from a playlist with USB2 so you can hav loads of playlists on itunes (maybe different genres), decide wot u wanna listen to that day and do a quick sync.

i know there's cheaper **** out there, but the fact is u either buy the good stuff or you buy the cheap stuff, and i'm sorry to that guy above, but if ur kid wants an ipod and u buy him some cheap thing from ebuyer and tell him its just as good, he'll still want an ipod i'm afraid so lets not debate what's almost as good ay?

i have been looking around for the best price on these too, this is the cheapest i have seen, and i think i'm going to get one for me mates birthday...if there's any left after you guys have have raided john lewis.

Bizarre???????

No, i have my entire collection of MP3 albums on my MP3 player and then simply keep adding albums as i see fit (and deleting) and i then simply choose which ever artist then album i want to listen to (or pick random search)...

Why would anyone need to 'fanny about' looking through 3000 individual tracks????? - everytihng is in albums and all albums listed under artist!!

Maybe non-Apple/sony MP3 players have come on a bit since you last had yours !! hahahaha

I'm not debating which one is almost as good. I am debating which one is better and that is the one that I pointed out because it does the same thing but for less money. You will never understand this because you are an apple fanboy.

Perhaps you've never used itunes then?! :S

The way you've phrased your previous post makes it sound as though clicking one button, for whether you wish to sync a certain item or not, is the most arduous task you'll ever face in a lifetime. I really fail to see any advantage of 'drag and drop' in Explorer over either 'drag and drop' in itunes or syncing through itunes?

Besides, if you've got everything that you own on your mp3 player as you state (like my 20GB ipod), surely you'd save yourself a lot of time by just plugging something in and leaving it to do its job?

The itunes method requires that you buy an ipod.

(walkmans or walkmen?) Sony mp3 players do not work with a Mac. So not better in every way.

Whats the battery life like on these? It says upto 12 hours but is this accurate.
#38
No, it's not accurate. My Shuffle averages about 17-18 hours, as did my first generation Shuffle. I suppose if you like clicking the whole time, you could get right down to the stated 12 hours.
