The 8Gb version is much like previous generation and often approaches this price point new.

You want the far larger devices to reap the benefits of the new hardware possible in this generation.

Really? I thought all the 4th Gen devices benefitted from the same technology, with the exception of the storage space.....what do the 32 and 64gb offer that the 8gb doesn't? (I'm not being funny - just didn't realise that there were any other differences...)

Benefits of new hardware ?

I think the 4th gen has the same hardware across all the memory sizes this time, the 3rd gen had the different hardware based on the memory size.

I think you're referring to the third gen ipod touch, which didn't include the majority of hardware improvements from the 3GS generation (e.g. faster processor).

However the 4th Gen 8GB iPod Touch has the same features as the other 4th Gen iPTs as far as I know.

That was my belief too - oh well, too late now! Purchased!

Exactly, didn't realise we were onto the 4th generation already. I think I meant 3rd though. Odd that Apple have stopped fleecing the 8Gb buyers all of a sudden though. Not voted.

Haha...yep, good old Apple - I was never a fan initially but the Touch has won me over. Still reckon you should vote hot though. It's got to be better than a deal on a loaf of bread at Tesco, or the latest dvd that's still £2.99??!! ;-)

People, if you're voting cold then explain why please.

I bought a 5th gen for £142 the other week at Dixons, prices fluctuate. It is brand new with 12 month warranty and not 2nd hand junk.Cold

Wasn't an iPod touch then, or you went to a future shop.

Bet you meant this though

Not sure thisll have a huge performance difference comapred with older versions...

The 4th Gen touches are a very similar to the iPhone 4 in some respects , These are totally different to the 8gb 3rd gen which was really a 8gb 2nd gen, the 3rd gen 32 & 64s are based on the iPhone 3gs

Apple in 2009 decided to do a minor range refresh and for some reason didn't refresh the 8GB 3rd gen.

However the 4th gen touch is totally different beast and are very quick compared to the 3rd gens

Have a look at Your text here scroll down to the 4th gen

4 gen has a camera and much improved screen - like iphone 4.
had great service from student computers in past

This is what I went for in the end, the trade off to gain all that extra storage justified losing those few extra (albeit very nice) features of the 4g. Brilliant little players, a real pleasure to use, if the g4s are that much better than the 3g they must be stunning.

I just ordered a new one from Asda for £149.99 and approx 5% cashback from topcashback - cheapest I could find for new.
8gb is not much but I need it for facetime and viber calls.

Mine arrived this morning - absolutely spotless. Very pleased! :-)
