Plus do you get normal dead on arrival/home check ? As normally if you purchase a manager's special as in a used item or a damaged box you dont even get any DOA ?

Hmm, I think it should be covered under their usually 14 day guarantee. But could be worth giving them a call before purchase.

Old model.
If you are interested in a refurbished newer model from Apple look here.

Admittedly a little extra.

Also:

That Mac Pro at the bottom looks tasty - Original price: £4,675.33 - Your price: £1,649.00

Mac pro at the bottom looks tasty for sure, but a tad bit too expensive for me :(

Generally I have had a bad experience wtih refurbished stuff so will take a bit of encouragement to buy another one I guess lol

Why are Macbooks over twice the price of the same spec'd PC laptops? I genuinely want to know.

The hardware is pretty high quality. For a comparison look at the prices of Lenovo or Toshiba, not Acers and Advents :-)

At tthe risk of turning this into another pointless debate...

Because when you say same specced you mean same CPU, RAM and Harddrive, without looking at any else that matters on the laptop. Quality of the display, keyboard, trackpad, weight, battery life, durability, etc.

Plus, OS X is generally regarded to be a much better OS than Windows is and people are willing to pay extra for that.

This is still active. I check here before buying from the refurb shop. The 2008 Mac Pro are generally cheaper than last years refurbs, for example.

Not that there's anything wrong with the refurb shop, I bought an iMac G4 for £700 off, smelt factory fresh and just like new, it did me proud for five years.
