This looks a good price

Hot from me.

The fact that these things keep working long after other (cheaper in fairness) brands die makes them better value, long term.

This is just my opinion and my experience.

My 2 y-o Macbook looks and performs like new. Other laptops that I've used prior to the Mac have died with little or no resale value.

A business user can get the VAT back too, so at £573.33 (plus VAT) it's a very affordable purchase.

Just saying

As someone mentioned above, these could be grey imports and not covered by Apple in the UK. Remember that Fullfilled by Amazon just means that the seller sends his stock to Amazon, and the item is dispatched from Amazon warehouses. It doesn't mean that Amazon ensures the quality of the item. In fact, the seller could have put stones in the boxes, rather than a laptop :). Obviously, Amazon will ensure that if there's a problem, that the customer is satisfied / reimbursed accodingly.

Also probably with a U.S. keyboard
#23
Does not matter if it's an import. As long as it's still under Apple warranty you can walk into any store or call Apple support and you are covered. Bought mine when in Tokyo and had no support issues when i ran into some language configuration issues.
#24
All Apple products cover a world wide warranty.
Keyboard and power supply will be main differences.

To be clear, you can only claim the vat if used for business. Obviously there are ways around this and it's fairly easy to justify.

Ebay refurbs are much cheaper

IIRC, the warranty is linked to the serial number. As jelly8ean mentioned you can walk into any Apple Store in the world to get it fixed.

So what's your point? I started my statement with 'a business user' . . . . ??

I'm merely making the point that a, as you put it, "business user" needs a legitimate business reason/use before he/she can claim vat back. Obviously not a concern for you but there are people out there, self employed, who haven't a clue about the vat system (or personal tax for that matter) and end up wrongly claiming for vat willy-nilly. Just highlighting that.

It really isn't. It's a dual core version of an i5 with a very low clock speed.

2.7 is still in pretty low by today's standards. But you won't be doing any gaming or serious rendering on this type of laptop anyway so it doesn't matter much. But the price is still ludicrous for the spec.

This is how much premium ultrabooks cost - whether you're on Windows or OSX. And 2.7GHz is at the higher end of Ultrabook frequencies. You'd need to go to an i7 to get much faster.

no it isnt most mobile cpus dont like going too much into the 3ghz zone due to the heat creation and waste of battery, and for a an ultrabook type device its very good perofrmance ya man there was making abig deal of the mhz when there are mobile pentiums and celerons that are clocked at 2ghz that would get raped by these i5's

lol ludicorous my balls apple products hold their value
