I know this isn't of much use to most people, but for somebody who has to look after several Macs in the same household or office, this is a bargain! Apple Remote Desktop is a tool for performing remote administration tasks on Apple computers e.g. updating software, performing inventories and viewing a user's screen and taking over input.

This version allows you to manage up to 10 computers. Price to buy directly from Apple is £195.00.

Used remote desktop in the past, works great. Seems cheap for Mac, but free with windows i think. Heat added..

I use this app at work to support hundreds of Macs and Xserves. It's a great package and there isn't a free alternative that can touch it.

As usual, Apple fanbois with more money than sense stick their fingers in their ears and go "lalalalala".

Voted cold with great pleasure.

Shall i be a d!ck too and start voting anything windows related cold?

No, because this seems to be VNC with an Apple logo and a heft price...
#11
Isn't logmein free as well? And that does remote control of macs as well as windows. Not voting either way, as a PC user it seems mad to pay for this kind of stuff, but I have no idea what else runs on a mac so god knows.

I suppose the fact is that if you want this software, this is a great deal. Its just whether you really want to pay, or a free alterntive would be a better plan.
#12
Isnt remote desktop free with windows? And for unlimited connections?!
#13
For all those who think that this product is just remote desktop or VNC, please be aware that it does this and an awful lot more besides. See http://www.apple.com/uk/remotedesktop/ for details of all the features it offers.

ARD is not just screen-viewing software. OS X Leopard is bundled with a VNC server/viewer (Screen Sharing) if that's all you want to do.
You can use Remote Desktop to automate installation of software across hundreds of machines, execute commands and gather usage statistics with a couple of clicks. And best of all, the client-side server is already built into the OS, so it takes no effort to set up. That sort of simplicity is pretty much unmatched in the Windows world. You can read more about it here:
http://www.apple.com/remotedesktop/

Anyway, the retail is $299 for this, so heat from me.
