I noticed the thread on this early today, but this is a deal I am submitting as it is cheaper!

This is the previous generation.

* Automatic backup with Time Machine
Time Capsule works automatically with Time Machine in Mac OS X Leopard to create the the perfect no-hassle backup solution. There are no cables, so you can back up all the computers in your home to a central location.
* Server-grade storage
The massive 500GB server-grade hard drive gives you all the capacity and safety you need for backing up all your Macs.
* Easy wireless networking
Connect your DSL or cable modem to Time Capsule and quickly create a new wireless network or extend an existing AirPort-based network using the easy-to-use AirPort Utility for Mac and PC. (1)
Up to 5x the performance, 2x the range
Time Capsule uses next-generation 802.11n wireless technology to deliver up to five times the performance and up to twice the range of 802.11g wireless networks. (2)
* Wireless integration
Time Capsule also works great as a wireless hard drive whether you have a Mac or PC. It sets up in a snap, giving you a networked hard drive you can use for storing and sharing any kinds of files.
* Print without wires
Print documents, photos, and more from any room in the home or office to a central printer connected to Time Capsule via USB.
(See system requirements.)
* Strong security and access control
Protect yourself with the built-in firewall and industry-standard encryption technologies including WPA/WPA2 and 128-bit WEP.
* Works with iPhone, Apple TV and more
Time Capsule works flawlessly with Apple TV, iPhone, iPod touch, and all your other Wi-Fi devices that use the 802.11a/b/g and 802.11n draft 2.0 wireless standards. (2)
(1) Wireless Internet access requires a wireless-enabled computer, a base station or other access point, and Internet access; fees may apply. Some ISPs are not currently compatible with Time Capsule.
(2) Time Capsule is based on an IEEE 802.11n draft specification and is compatible with IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11b, and IEEE 802.11g. Performance is based on a comparison with Apple's 802.11g products. Comparison assumes Time Capsule-based network with 802.11n-enabled computer. Speed and range will be less if an 802.11a/b/g product joins the network. Accessing the wireless network requires an AirPort or AirPort Extreme enabled computer or other Wi-Fi Certified 802.11a/b/g-enabled computer. Actual performance will vary based on range, connection rate, site conditions, size of network, and other factors. Range will vary with site conditions.

Love mine - it's backs up everything on my Mac without me noticing with speeds up to 144 MB/s!

Hot, hot, hot!

wow seriously cheap!
#4
got one the other week from a link on here

I think this is different to the ones they had a couple of weeks ago as that was model MB764B/A which has dual wifi (not simultaneous) and this doesn't seem to have (code TC500GB) ??

Or is it the same ??

Still a good deal. The one I got was delivered very quickly and was very well packed - never heard of or used the company before and was pleasantly surprised. :-)

seems a bit fishy to me as the new ones have both Guest Networking and Dual Band, and the old ones have neither of those features (as far as I'm aware). However on their website it states that it doesn't have Dual Band but does have Guest Network.

Taken from wikipedia:

In early 2009, Apple released a newer model offering simultaneous 802.11n dual-band operation to allow older devices to use the slower wireless speeds without affecting the overall performance of devices that can use the higher 802.11n speeds.[2]

Also released in this new version is Guest Networking which allows guests to sign on with a different password to ensure your private network is kept private.[2]

If anyone has brought one, can you please check out the model number on the actual unit and post back (it should be either be MB276LL/A(old model) or MB764LL/A (new version))

The one I bought a few weeks ago was the old model. The dual band doesn't affect me as ipod and PS3 are connected to the O2 router, only my mac is connected to the Time capsule

I have one and it's nowhere near 144Mb/s over wireless (I assume you mean megabits), I get at the best 6MB/s transfer which is around 50Mb/s, this is being about 10m away.

Still, this is one of the fastest draft-n routers around, although if you can find an Airport Extreme for £50 like I did, then attaching an external HD to it may be a better value option (you can hook up as many as you want).

Can you use these with PC's?

Can you use these with PC's?

you can use with a pc - the time capsule is really designed to work with Time Machine on OSX but i have set up to work on my Windows Vista PC as a back up drive. It's a bit slow over wireless but works!
#11
Well the one a few weeks ago you could connect to a PC .. this one says NOT in the specs. from jigsaw ... do a search in jigsaw for time capsule and you will see the difference.

I'm wondering if I should get one as my O2 router is crap and keeps dropping out and although I have a 500 gb external HD I'd need to reformat it if I wanted to use it to back up all my stuff on my iMac so that's not a valid point.

Just ot confirm that I can use this instead of my O2 router?
#13
Just ordered one to go with my O2 router. You will have to run both the O2 box and the Time Capsule as the Apple device doesn't have a router in it. Turn off Wifi on the O2 box and connect this to the back of the O2 router via ethernet. Hope this helps.

nice find, cheers!!! i have a macbook and imac that desperately need backing up!!!
