Is there much difference between the two? I ask as I have no idea and want to know!

Difference between new and refurb? Nothing really, other than price. Especially from Apple, they are very particulate what they sell as refurbished!

i bought this for £69 about 4 months ago, when it was on ebay and groupon. Im sure it was listed on here. Also bought apple tv 2, which is better because it can be jailbroken.
#15
In before the jailbreak questions

Yeah, you can do everything from mirroring the whole phone or iPad to just watching movie box. I'm doing it right now.

I got the refurb from apple, and it is literally new, even with packaging. The only difference is that the box says apple certified refurbished on it.
#17
I agree, cold. Better off buying the refurb from Apple. It will essentially the same as a new one and £10 cheaper.
#18
personally i will choose a refurb one, but it is still a good price for a new one. vote hot.
#19
I think you can get a refurb one from apple for less than this.

Yes but that is illegal. Streaming isn't.
#22
no idea what it is babes but I want one!
#23
So what's the advantages of jailbreaking your Apple TV?
#24
Streaming from non licences sites is not legal. However, the burden of blame is most frequently placed upon the site rather than the user. However, I expect this to become the next stage of IP battles in the coming years. Ho hum. Vote Pirate Party
#25
Apple TV is pretty good,I use it with my Ipad Air, or for Android I use Showbox & Allcast to stream movies from my HTC One.
#26
As other have said better if getting refurb direct from Apple. However if you must have new this is a great price too

I recall that the 3rd gen wasn't JB'ed yet (hence why 2nd gen ones sold 2nd hand for a premium price) Not sure if this is still the case

Why no Buzz?. Thought these little babies were supposed to be the mutts nuts?

My birthday is fast approaching and I can't think WTH to stick on the list. Am wondering if I need one of these in my life or not.

Mate, you know my thoughts on Apple tech, I love it, But these are next to pointless, Really they are, If you're not interested in mirroring from iPad/iPhone/iMac then everything else is standard. I have had two mate, The second time around I bought it in the probability I was maybe been somewhat harsh on my review with the first. I have said this before on previous ATV threads, I paid £10 for my Now TV box and it has been used (child like) a trillion times more than that ATV would have in a lifetime, If you sideload Plex onto a Now TV you have an all in one Smart Box (BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, Now TV.......).

But......those are my opinions and everybody is entitled to their own.

These should be free really.

So locked into the inferior overpriced muck that is iTunes.

Bit like Tesco locking you into one of their stores, telling you that you can't shop anywhere else (even though they've got better and cheaper stuff), and then charging you £70 for the privilege.
#33
Great for Netflix, Plex, AirPlay, YouTube etc. Get what you pay for, slick interface and that Apple feel.

Ah ok mate, I'll swerve for now then!. I have the now TV box upstairs with plex side loaded - works well as a bedroom streamer.

I'll curb my apple expanse then and hold off...still haven't fully sussed all the Mac mini can do yet :p

The other half has suggested I get a George Foreman grill instead...they don't come with a remote control though :p

Tesco is fraudulent enough to sell you goods produced in China using child labour.
