Which model?
#2
Maybe in store but it's out of stock online
#3
Same price at Amazon but no 2 year guarantee. Had vouchers from Amazon I would of gone fur this for guarantee.

Which model?

It'll be 3rd generation as there's currently no 4th gen.
#5
I use mine a lot, but I feel like this is the price they should be RRP... It's useful for Netflix and that's about it. Most "apps" are American and useless. It's is handy for music too I suppose!

overpriced better with a Linux M8 quad core

Excuse my ignorance but what do you mean by a Linux m8 quad?
Do you mean an M8 with pre installed Linux based xbmc such as Armada mach 8? Or flashing something like openelec to a standard M8?

Currently experimenting with an M8N so would be interested in your experience.

Can you put xbmc on these?
#11
No can't hack these
#12
Got one and I find it over priced for what it offers. Nice interface though.
#13
I brought one for £64 over Christmas, useful for mirroring Xbmc off my iPad for the football, but that's about it.
#14
Thanks
#15
Wish Blinkbox worked on these!
#16
Just tried Bluewater John Lewis- back to 79 supposedly a price match deal yesterday
#17
These are OK but since bought chromecast I hardly ever use the apple TV as can't be bothered with the remote control.
#18
Amazon TV can be had for £65

Much better IMO
#19
Have had these for years and they are very limited and far better value out there with other products like Chromecast and FireTV etc.

Apple left wayyyyyy behind at present in the TV box stakes and I am a big fan.

Overpriced and limited.

I too use the Chromecast constantly since it arrived, the ATV is OK for Airplay and because of the remote better for Netflix etc, but I hardly use it any more. I do hate firing up a device just to pause playback though...
#21
Jailbreak an idevice and watch steamed movies if you wish via airplay, job done.
#22
I only use my Apple TV for Airplay streaming of music to my surround sound system. For everything else, I use Chromecast. Even the music side doesn't get that much use these days now I have started to invest in Sonos kit.

Be aware that Apple TV is a bit long in the tooth now - an updated 4th generation version is long overdue. My guess is that we will see an updated Apple TV this year and it will be a quantum leap forward over the current model.

I thought the atv3 had been jailbroke?!

Anyone know for sure if this works?

No can't hack these

There is a workaround that lets you put on Plex
https://forums.plex.tv/index.php/forum/136-appletv-plexconnect/

Works very nicely and I use it a lot - however, agree with others would get something else now like FireTV, Chromecast or DroidPlayer M8

Good price but an utter tosh product
#28
Good price but one of the crappiest products Apple make. Really not worth more than £30 on a good day considering the awesomeness of Chromecast for £20
#29
I'd say for the general consumer the Apple TV is an excellent product. If you're someone who is techno-savvy then there obviously is better value for money. Apple TV's are mainly used for AirPlay than anything else. I think that's why Apple are reluctant to release a simple lightning to HDMI cable, to my knowledge anyway.

Showing £79 for me...And OOS......

Can you explain XBMC and football from iPad please? Not heard about this. Is it legal?

Try this - http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter

Not sure if that's what you mean, had one for the old 30 pin, worked pretty well.
#33
Hi, how do you put xbmc on the iPad please? Do you need to jailbreak the iPad?
#34
I never recommend Amazon products but fire tv is the best steamer currently. Id give this a wide birth.

Lmao.

If you have apple devices, or invested in iTunes, it is great.

How good is it for screen mirroring with mac?

That's not really what it's for - Roku, Fire etc are designed for multiple sources. Apple conceived this for access to all your photos, home movies etc stored in or bought through iTunes and it really hasn't changed since then.

For that purpose it's great. They've added other sources (Netflix, Sky News etc) but it's not really useful and is about out of date practically.

Don't expect a new one this year either, they have the Watch to ship and iPhone 7.
