Cheapest I could find the Apple TV atm (and that's not included about 3% on TopCashBack).

Blurb:

The compact, streamlined Apple TV offers seamless HD film rental right from your couch and wireless streaming media from your PC and home entertainment network.

The sleek, tiny Apple TV fits into the palm of your hand, or onto even the most crowded digital equipment shelf. For instant HD and SD film rental and wireless media streaming to your High Definition TV, all you need is an HDMI cable to connect the Apple TV to your television set. Then sit back and enjoy the latest films at your fingertips, or take in YouTube, iTunes music and other streaming media via the big screen, and revel in gorgeous, full-screen display of your own home-made media - be it camcorder videos or digital photos.

Supplied with its own remote for easy operation, the Apple TV can also be controlled via your iPhone or iPod, using the free, fun Apple TV Remote App to operate it with the flick of a finger.

Welcome to the next level of seamless home entertainment with the Apple TV!

Seen this in action, I think apple dropped the ball with this, its really only good for music.
No 1080p and its 2011 by the way apple. from what I can see, no dts nor dolby either, but I could be wrong.

Wait for the updated A5 version that should support 1080p etc, not much use to me, both my Samsung TVs take 1080p MKV's etc already and don't need a PC left on streaming.

regardless of if you like the product this is a good price and is this not what this site is based on?

I never knew it was a review site.

It's only a good price if its worth having, take the Apple logo off and its an expensive media extended that only let's you use itunes.

If a product I was about to buy had major failings, I'd rather know about them in advance than just buy it because it was a good price. Many times peoples comments have helped me decide if I should purchase an item or not, I think it really adds to the site myself.

I agree, I find the comments about products here useful. And entertaining at times as well :)

well to add to the other side of this argument. I have one and we think its great!!

I have all our films / tv shows / music & podcasts in itunes and it streams them prefectly when we want them. The kids dvd's are all streamed effortlessly and we no longer end up with scratched / missing DVD's cause they are just not needed.

I'll grant you that this product is not perfect but its comes close enough for our needs.

720p is more than enough for us.
The only downside is that the UK market doesnt get netflix (or lovefilm) like the americans

Jailbreak and add XBMC, simple, still be better if it did 1080P though.

I agree completely.

I have one and its a great piece of kit, I have an extensive library of films on itunes as well as my music, which stream perfectly to my TV, yes, I do get the whole 1080p argument, however, it is more than adequate for 32" LCD TV. As for a deal, compared to the RRP and other prices online, its a hot deal, so heat added from me, but I fear I am fighting a losing battle!

Lord I post some unpopular deals on here...
I still think this is a great bit of kit, it's all just about how you use it.

720p is enough for me, as the TV I'm putting in the bedroom only displays this anyway.

quick query though - do you need to have your PC turned on all the time to stream media, or is there a hard drive in this little ditty?
