I wouldn't pay £15 even if it was official. I'd get the cheapest one I could find.

I've used a 'Cheap one' mine with my 3G and most of the other time I charge from my pc for the price of a 99p cable.

As long as it's 5v usb, it'll work. Never come across a usb I couldn't charge my iPhone in.

I know you can get cheaper adapters but this deal is for people looking for the genuine Apple charger. I could understand a cold vote if you could find the genuine charger cheaper but when I was looking for a charger I was specifically after the Official one from Apple which is £19.99 everywhere else.

Fanboy attitude.
Its no dif. Yeh its a reduced price for the OFFICIAL item. Buts its not hot because its not a competive price.
#9
Same price on amazon & lots of other online retailers. Even for a genuine Apple adaptor, still not a 'Hot' price.
Sorry, I stand by my cold vote.
#10
Hot as the design of this plug is amazing, it comes apart to take up less space for travelling!

The design sucks. Taking it apart doesn't make it any more portable. It was made this way for economy, so they could produce plugs for lots of countries using the one 'back'.
You can get USB travel plugs that 'fold' up, taking far less space, for much less money.

I agree. I own an Iphone 3G and the plug that comes with sucks. Its not more portable, if anything its bigger then a normal standard charger.

Apple had to recall thousands of USB chargers as of September last year .... :whistling:

Apple to exchange thousands, if not millions, of iPhone 3G power adapters due to defect that could cause the chargers to shock users

Why would it not?

For those people who don't know, there are major issues with USB chargers not working with 2nd Generation IPOD Touches. A quick google will direct you to a plethora of sites.

Basically, the newer ones have the terminal wired slightly differently which is causing major headaches as a lot of high-end and budget docks won't charge them

If this is gauanteed to work, then it is a decent price.

Hot as the design of this plug is amazing, it comes apart to take up less space for travelling!

It comes apart so Apple can just change the plug type and sell the same item the world over. Saves on costs.

As for cheap USB chargers, well they're fine for some iPods, but the 3 USB chargers I've tried won't charge my iPod Touch, but they charge my gf's Nano no problems.
I think it's to do with the amps the charger outputs.

I got an official one with a set of video cables for about £16 I think, I then sold the cables and kept the charger. A lot cheaper that way.

So why do you come to this site then?

You have more chance of being struck by an asteroid than getting official gear cheap for most rip-off brands unless it's obsolete!

I must be the only Apple hater......items designed for fashion victims (like i was!!), sure the phone itself is superb 2nd to none at the mo

BUT apple have no care about compatibility....try connecting an iphone 3g to a car stereo (my ipod compatbility, but not iphone 3g compatible as it turns out is 3 months old), try playing music from itunes to an xbox360, try charging and playing music from an iphone 3g in a car (nb. the radio tune ones dont count as they are rubbish, tried loads)
Also, apple have different compatiblity issues between their own products....the iphone dock doesnt work very well with the apple iphone 3g dock.....if something is iphone compatible, it doesnt mean an iphone 3g will work!

Why?... it might be a great bit of kit, but lots of things are great kit, and not Hot deals because they sell at their ordinary price, everywhere!

Might as well put up a copy of the Sun as a hot deal, at it's full price... available every newsagent!

Could the recent growth in this sort of attitude seen in this thread be the reason there is so much "mush" in the posts, clogging up the good deals and the relevant discussion :-(

I'm no fanboy, but have you ever tried playing a zune through an Apple Mac? Or the Zune software on a Mac? My zune also won't play with my Onkyo amp, yet the IPOD will. Big companies try to make sure you use their stuff and buy their stuff, in that respect Apple are no different.

I have always thought that Apple stuff was aimed at Geeks who "think" they're cool, but don't know the reality ;-)

That said, after using a MacBook Pro for a couple of months, I'm converted.

I am not an Apple hater, I just don't care one way or the other. I too do dislike this compatibility problem though, and as I buy only VALUE gear anyway, whatever it is - I have NEVER seen any Apple kit that comes into the good value bracket so don't have any. Looks - the "big deal" with Apple... don't get it, just looks like any other techie kit, with it's own styling, good or bad, there's loads of good looking gear about it about, both Apple and others!

The aforementioned item was a better priced alternitave to the deal listed. Surely this is a correct use for a deal thread, unlike your post which is both inflamitary and irrelevent.

I second that. A hot deal to me means getting the SPECIFIC item you are looking for at a better price that it generally sells at. If I am looking for a Porsche and someone posts it at a cheaper price than any price I have found then that is a hot deal to me. If someone recommends a fiat because it is cheeper that a Porsche and they dont Like Porsches but the Fiat is at its usual rrp price that is not a hot deal and does not interest me.

Yea, but like I said allready, this item is the same price as amazon, and other online retailers, so this paticular deal is not hot. We are also talking about a plug, not a car. Lots of cheeper products will do exactly the same thing, unlike a Porsche...

The one on Amazon has no image next to it and is sold by someone on the marketplace called gr8  and doesn't include postageI think I would prefer to buy direct from o2 get speedy delivery and have some comeback in the future. The deal I have posted is at a discounted price from a reputable online retailer.

The design isn't up to much really, it just doesn't look right with our huge great hulking UK plug attached. The U.S. plug is totally integral:

But we live in the UK with UK plugs. This isn't relevant to the post. Speak to Steve Jobs If you have a more integral way of integrating a UK plug into an adapter. I'm waiting with anticipation to see your design,

It's £14.38 Including shipping. If you are worried about comeback, you can return it to apple if it breaks, and amazon/your credit card wil cover it before it arrives. I know people who work for O2, they are some of the bigegest cowboys I know! :w00t:

It is not a genuine apple charger it is THE88 branded and only compatible with the following:

Compatible with Classic, Video, Photo, Shuffle, Nano I, II & III, Mini

It is this easy to make a mistake when buying from the Amazon marketplace. Again you get the peace of mind from O2 knowing you are getting the genuine article.
