Just searched from it as an afterthought from the MobileMe thread. Considering I've just paid £31 which I thought was a good deal, this seems excellent. Would think this would avoid the potential pitfalls of buying from eBay (codes sold and then subsequently revoked)

Note: This can only be activated within 1 year of buying your iPhone.

Good price I was £24 from eBay and finally got written confirmation from Apple today.

#3

Guess you could as you don't enter the iPhone serial number until you register the code.
#5
good deal, although I've never had a problem with ebay apple care purchases.
#6
For the ignorant (ie me!) what is Applecare?
Thanks
#7
It's an extended warranty from Apple.
#8
Good deal , i jusy bought a brand new sealed one from ebay for £26 delivered and i thought that was good .

Never trusted just the code sellers on ebay as i have heard some horror stories about apple refusing warranty work without the correct certificate and proof

Good find op

It is sort of an extended warranty by apple. Extends your existing product's warranty by 1 more year. HOWEVER, if your iphone goes wrong, you still need to either take it down to the apple store and speak with the staff there, who will begrudge you and give you a refurbished one in return. OR if you send it back to apple, you will still need to wait for it to be repaired and come back and be without a phone for 10 or more days minimum.

By the way if you tell them it is not acceptable you should wait 10 days as you have apple care , the oman, in her nasal voice, WILL ask you to make a payment of £30 so they can send you a REFURBISHED phone in exchange for your brand new one in advance.

When I say in advance, I mean the courier will come and drop off the new phone and take your faulty one back.

When I say refurbished, I mean a phone whioch has been returned by someone due to various reasons which may or may not include the product not being up to their required standard.

BUT, this is just my experience with apple care. I am sure there are 10000's of glowing reviews from apple fans who have seen the value of eternal redemption apple products bring into their lives....well....y'know...."lives".

To be fair, my macbook has gone wrong 3 times, the third time I got it replaced for a newer model (rev. c, 2.2ghz rather than 2, C2D rather than CD, bigger hard drive, better graphics). Was glad I bought applecare otherwise I'd have been screwed.

If they want to give me a refurb iPhone that's fine by me, mine's a bit battered on the back. They replaced the screen under warranty last month without any problem, but I'd sooner have a guarantee for an extra year, haven't had much fuss getting stuff fixed through Apple, just wish it didn't break so often!
#14
thanks my iphone coverd now
#15
This will be pushing it, but I assume that I cannot cover my (nigh on 2 year old) iphone original with this?
#16
Is this delivered or code given through email or something?

Nope, has to be within the first year!
#18
does it cover loss?
accidental damage?

or is it only mechanical
#19
only mechanical!

How about if i bought my iPhone in Australia (dont ask!!) if i buy this will it mean it is covered in the UK?? AT the moment if it breaks i have to return it to where i got it, which would be a right NIGHTMARE!!!

extended warrantys are mostly for those people who don't understand the Sale of Goods Act. A £400 phone which does not last 24 months should be replaced automatically by the retailer.
#22
Good spot, had the email about mine running out two days ago!
#23
You have to wonder where CEX are getting these from.

The Sale of Goods Act isn't worth the paper it's written on... Case in point, YLOD on PS3.

So, can someone let us know how this works.

You buy online with CEX and they email you the code or send out the Applecare box?

Not sure, but if its just a code on its own I'd be very worried. There have long been rumors that there is a keygen in China that can make the AppleCare codes, so it could be that this is been used to generate them and sold to the ignorant people of CeX for £10 a code. Whilst these codes will activate AppleCare on your iPhone, if someone buys the boxed product with the same code your in trouble and will end up having your warranty cancelled.
#27
So you have a 2 year contract and a phone that lasts 12 months. Think about it, warranties are a waste of time...
#28
had a few in kingston upon thames cex sealed package
#29
ordered when 3 left now there are none....hot deal!

madonna project what a rant!!
#30
So people are voting hot but as yet no-one has actually purchased one?
#31
i bought an iphone off a colleague, as it was an unwanted upgrade he had. He gave me it brand new and sealed. Is it possible I could get this insured? He tried to get a receipt from o2 but he could only get it in his name , and not mine.

What insurance company will cover my phone?
#32
Just purchased one of these. It asked for a shipping adress so I presume it it the boxed version and not just a code.
