AppleCare for iPhone £44.00 with O2 Priority Moments (instore)
O2 priority has 20% off accessories instore at the moment. AppleCare is included. Worked for me. Normally £61 from Apple.
PS. I know that you can try to argue that all items have a two year warranty under EU law, though Apple currently interprets this as being able to demonstrate a fault when first purchased.
I also know you can make claims under section 75 of the Consumer Credit act, but it's a lot of hard work.
Applecare is great for people who have iPhones and want things fixed/replaced quickly without any stress.

I've changed the title to make it more accurate. ;)
I believe they won't do so if caused by accidental damage.

Applecare + does, which has replaced this in the USA but seemingly not over here.

Not sure how many do it in the USA but over here that would be abused something rotten.
IT does not cover you if you lose your contacts, or any data for that matter.
Any software issues (which is what you have by the sounds of it) can usually be fixed by doing a restore via iTunes.

It's just the same as having accidental damage on contents insurance in your house. You're effectively paying an insurance premium for your phone. How many people fraudulently claim? Mmmmmm

There are currently no lightning docking stations available to my knowledge. You will need the 30pin > Lightning adaptor to plug your iPhone 5 into a dock.
But, your iPhone 5 already comes with 90 days free telephone support, so you can always give them a call.
