Does anybody know if the mic will work for calls on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus? What about Skype calls on my Macbook Air? :-)

anyone know a good deal closer to the £30 to £50 mark for earphones (inner ear) as the cable on mine recently went wonky. i have big headphones but want a decent replacement to sennheiser cx400 ii's that can be folded and stuck in my pocket

these are maybe a bit much for me, money wise. if they were the greatest earphones in the world ever then i would maybe chance it, but i think that's pushing it for commuting earphones

Give These a go! Also won in the What Hi-Fi Awards in there price range! - http://www.whathifi.com/review/soundmagic-e10

My hard drive was damaged out of the box. In fact, the box inside the box inside the box had impact damage in one of the corners.

The hard drive made loud (and concerning) clicking noises every 30 seconds - even when not in use.

Also found that the model number of the part that came was STCA4000100 and not 200 (can be verified by looking under the actual product box).

Product returned for a full refund.

The last time I had a Seagate it failed after 6 months and I lost all my data. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. There's probably a reason this is so cheap.

Not their fault you lost data, it's 2013, everyone needs to get their head around back up. No excuses. Any drive can fail at any point, don't trust any drive.

If you don't trust any drive, you need an infinite amount of backups. Simple logic. Your data is never safe. That's a fact.

I was 14 when that happened haha, I'm 20 now and I've learned my lesson.

The last time I had a Seagate it failed after 6 months and I lost all my data. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. There's probably a reason this is so cheap.

you could only lose data if you didn't back it up, and if you didn't back up your data then you can't blame the manufacturer. if one of my 4tb drives fails i won't lose any data

Surely if a drive fails you can blame the manufacturer for the failure.

why? what if the user has abused the drive? what if a power surge destroys the drive? or a fire? or flood? if the user hasn't followed the instructions/warnings/recommendations, or something like a faulty PSU or controller card in your PC damages the drive, why would the manufacturer of the drive be to blame?

Also, what happens if I backup my data and the backup drive fails too? Can I blame anyone then? Basically hard drives shouldn't fail. If they do, the manufacturer is obviously to blame - they made the drive and sold it...

well that's your opinion which is different from reality. drives do fail. most things end up breaking at some point in time, especially mass produced items. it might not be until 10 years down the line, long after the warranty is up, but if you only have your data on a single drive then you can't hold anyone else to blame. you can blame who you want, but ultimately if you lose data it's your own fault if you don't have adequate backups. if you have at least one backup and look after your hardware and software properly it's unlikely you will get two complete failures at the same time and lose data. if one drive fails, get a new one and make an immediate backup. this is just common sense. if the data is so important or irreplaceable, make a further copy of the most important stuff, use cloud storage if necessary. i have most stuff backed up twice, but my most important stuff is on 3 drives here, and most of it on other drives kept elsewhere. i've never lost any essential data

i see so many comments from people when deals are posted of large capacity drives at he time, from people saying whooaa 100 gigabytes on a single disc, through the same comments for increasing bigger drives like 1tb, 2tb, 3tb and now 4tb. but surely if you buy this drive now, your existing drives aren't goin to vanish into vapour so you can use this as a backup or your existing drives as backup. when you buy something physical like this, your old item doesn't go away unless you actually do something about it

if you don't like large capacity drives and don't want to back up, don't buy them. buy a few smaller drives instead, and increase your chances of failure by having more drives that can fail and lose your data that you haven't backed up. or just buy this and keep your old one, or buy two big ones of the same size and use one as a backup. it's simple and common sense

High price per TB when compared to 3tb drives @£86
yep but desktop drives do suck down a considerable amount of power and they are bulky so this is probably worth it.
This is a desktop drive too though?

Yep I just meant that if you were thinking of getting 2x 3TB instead to get the cheaper £/TB ratio, consider the energy and size etc.

I was going to pay £80 just for 1TB like last year and now 2TB being sold for like £100, shows it's better to wait as there is currently a lot of competition within this market. WD is also a good make, one of the BEST!
Cool not cold, certainly not sub zero. Bad luck OP - 2 morons plus sheep sunk this one. One note of caution - I think I read that there were concerns about a high failure rate on these (EDIT: specifically this model).

Not to be rude or anything, but posting stuff like that is a bit of an insult to people's intelligence. I think people are more than aware that a 4TB drive holds 4TB and a 2TB drive holds 2TB and that 2TB drives exist that cost roughly half the price of....surprise surprise a 4TB drive...

Did you know 3TB drives exist too? Oh and 1TB!

Who'd have thought eh.

I suspect due to the weight and girth that this is two 1Tb drives stacked with a USB3.0 front end controller to hide the details.

Shows up as "WD My Passport 0748 USB Device" under Device Manager

You have a very vivid imagination !

Inside is a Western Digital WD20NPVT HDD which is a single 15mm high 2.5" HDD with four 500MB platters.

See here.

Well that's going back. Not recognised by Win 7 and an ominous clicking noise.

Just to update that, in case anyone else has the same problem (and it does seem pretty common) - it was a connection problem.

A connection via a USB extension lead looked OK - light came on, appeared in Device manager etc - but no appearance in 'Computer' and not able to use in any way.

Connected direct to PC, without extension - no problem. Worked fine. I'm guessing the extra length of cable produces a power problem causing it not to be recognised.

Um, just because you don't want something doesn't make it cold. It is whether something is a good price for that class of product.

Apples, Oranges.

Its just gone up to £110! So yes. And Currys/PCWorld back up to £129.99

I just bought 2 myself, as I intend to get 2 Samsung ES6800s and they can record TV to USB, as well as play most media files, so should make for nice media players with this drive. Now all I have to do is wait for the 6800s to drop in price.

Any idea why people are marking this as cold? Wouldn't that be the case if this was a bad deal? If that were so I'd hope they'd post the better deal here. Are there other reasons for marking something as cold (hopefully not that you simply don't want it, else we'd all go around marking tonnes of things down!)

Or if you really want a deal get the ES6710 which is currently £599 @ Amazon. Would have got one myself but bought the ES6900 just before Xmas on a one off deal.

Maybe he is referring to the american meaning of what we call the Hash key.
In Commonwealth English, the symbol is usually called the hash and the corresponding telephone key is called the hash key. In American English, the symbol is usually called the pound sign (outside the US, this term often describes instead the British currency symbol "£") and the telephone key is called the pound key.

Good price? Very mixed reviews on Amazon would need to look at them a bit more, but thank you for posting :D

I have experience with Turtle Beach, whilst they are at the lower end good headsets, I find that they often break by snapping or just having the sound cut out. At least they usually last a decent while in my case but not for everyone.

With these I have seen that some people have had a problem with faulty headsets where the right ear won't produce sound, but you can get a new headset sent to you if this is the case... Those without this problem absolutely love the headset and in all honesty, you should watch the video!! you can bend them about and all sorts without them breaking. You can also take them apart for travel which is GREAT!

I also love the feature of having the volumes at my fingertips instead of dangling by me so I don't have to try and hope that I grabbed the wire to turn the sound down or mute myself.

For this price they're DEFINITELY worth a try! In my opinion :P

They're retailed at around 60 so it's a great price in my opinion. Steelseries seem to be one of the much sturdier brands of headsets out there. I'd avoid Turtle beach and Tritton like the plague.
