Right, go easy on me here. I'm only posting this to give people considering going to a UK CP an idea for an alternative that can be cheaper or at least the same price as a UK park. Depending of course how you get there.

I'm not saying this is some great bargain, just might be a good deal for some people.

I just booked midweek in Holland on 31 March in a 4 bedroom VIP villa for £333 with the child discount.

Prices for the UK the same week is £600 - £900 depending on accommodation.

Now you can take the ferry and drive or like me you could get cheap flights and hire a car. I got flights with Ryanair to Weeze for £200 for a family of 4 including all the extras for luggage and credit card fees. Car hire is £130.

So, OK I have not saved much, if anything so far. But we get to visit a different country, and are going to stay an extra night and tour a little..

Another thing though, the prices for the activities and bike hire are about half the cost of the UK ones. We're going to a park that has indoor skiing all year and it's only 59 euros for a midweek package.

Here are some details of the VIP villa we booked. The spec seems better than the UK ones too.

VIP Services such as the Breakfast Package; either at home or in the Market Restaurant.
Mini Hifi-Installation with CD-player.
Home Cinema Set with DVD-player (as of January 2008 available).

Options Included

We have been to European Center Parcs for the past two years and they are GREAT - MILES cheaper than the UK ones, just as good accommodation and all of the events/activities are much cheaper too.
The park near Eindhoven (De Kempervennen) has a great pool with cool slides for the kids, but the best part we enjoyed the most was the indoor ski slope. We spent a whole day snowboarding and had a fantastic time. Can't remember exactly how much it was (think it was about 40 Euros for the first hour and lesson including board and clothing hire, then about 20 Euros for the rest of the day free skiing).
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has kids between about 2 and 16, and is looking for a fun holiday. If you're driving it's pretty easy to get there through the Chunnel - drive time is about 3 hours on the other side - but the motorway round Antwerp takes a bit of concentration, otherwise it's very easy.
Although the parks in Belgium and Holland are good, this summer we're off to the new one in France near Reims to see what that's like.

We went to a Center Parcs in France last year and I was disappointed to find that the catering on site was very similar to that in the English ones, I think we were expecting something a little more "French" other thans chips, pizzas, etc, and the service was extremely bad.
Swimming pool with "Water Jungle" or what ever it was called was one of the best we have been to though.

I've just booked a midweek in Whinfell in the Lake District on Feb 18th, when the kids are on half term holiday, in a comfort plus 3 bed detached villa for £433. They are doing 20-30% off half term breaks at the moment, they must be having trouble shifting the villas. The page is here: http://www.centerparcs.co.uk/prices_booking/specialoffers/febhalfterm.jsp

Hi, folks, just read this and Im interested to find out since we havent driven abroad, how could we go to De Kempervennen if we are taking our car, we are from Scotland. What ferry can we use? Will this be too far to drive and will this be the cheapest way to go?

Thanks.

Edinburgh or Newcastle for ferries I think. Certainly Newcastle with DFDS seaways would be a good way to go. Takes 15h, overnight. Try google maps, will give you driving info. Flying with Ryanair from Prestwick to Weeze is an alternative. Works out at as little as £50 each. Then £110+ for a hire car.

:?:I take it, it would be better to take the car,, what do you think?:?:

Is the £110 for a week??

Thanks for posting the deal, I had never considered a Centerparcs holiday of any kind until I looked at this, and I have to admit it seems to be a great (and cheaper) alternative to staying in a cramped studio apartment in Lanzarote...;-) Ok so you dont get a suntan but who cares!

Definitely considering it now thanks....at least you dont get ripped off paying a school holiday premium too...

Come on there is better than that, I booked myself last night for the 28th April in a 4 berth detached cabin and only paid £265.

£333? Gotta look harder!!:x

Of course I could have got one cheaper, it was only and example. And I paid £333 for a VIP one with private sauna, cos I'm a snob.

Yeah, but the title says VIP villa.
Probs for £285 you get the one that people with 6 dogs usually hire just for their pets.
