Yawn, id never have predicted that response!
I bet you dont like the meat deals or the egg promotions on HUKD because the photo doesnt represent the conditions... blahdy blahdy blah...

Would be cruel to keep 1 or 2 tetras in this... probably not.

Ive got a goldfish in a pint glass in my workshop, granted he looks miserable but maybe thats because theres no lid on it and the cat almost gets him on a daily basis.

so if someone has a pet cat for the first time, it's not cruel if they lock it in the bathroom for it's entire life? because it's their first cat?

Fish aren't very intelligent creatures. I doubt their brains have the complexity to allow them to feel emotional distress from being kept in an 8Ltr tank (or pint glass for that matter). As long as it gets fed and isn't too hot or cold I don't think a goldfish (or any other popular pet fish) is aware of very much else. What this deal has to do with you locking a cat (a social mammal with a highly evolved and complex brain) in a bathroom is beyond me. Surely in an ideal world people wouldn't keep any pets since to do so is to remove them from their natural habitat/environment?.

Why does someone always have to bring up some BS animal rights crap on this website anytime a deal is posted??. It's a nice little starter kit for a decent price!. It would be ideal for a child's first pet or someone just looking to start a new hobby. It is what it is.

the fish in the picture you posted are mostly swordtails and they grow up to 5 inches long, it is cruel to put them in a tank this size, fish are more intelligent than you think, i have different kinds in breeding tanks in my garage and they all behave differently, hang around different places, wait at the top for food at certain times of day etc, ask any coarse fisherman they will tell you how smart some fish are.

I had a tank like this and it was not really big enough for the fish they got pretty ill I felt really guilty. Really I think fish need a proper tank with a filter etc. You have to clean these sort of tanks out all the time.

Instinctive behavior isn't the same as intelligence.
