Anyone know what these are like? Seem to remember some negative comments on a previous thread.

Looks a good spec / deal if OK.

Battery Life: Up to 7 Hours Now that would be sweet...
I've always like Archos and am looking out for a netbook but does this have any dissadvantages over, say, the samsung counter-part?

I see the free battery as more of a hassle than a bonus, I would prefer the power of both batteries to be in one. Amazon were doing the Asus EEE PC with 10.5 hour battery life for under £250 very recently but have sold out and there are only 3rd party sellers who are asking more. They do have one with 8.5 battery life though for £235

I found this review
http://www.itreviews.co.uk/hardware/h2094.htm

at the bottom of the review
At the full retail price the Archos 10 is hard to recommend. It's no better value than any other similarly specified netbook and has a ropey battery life. However, several retailers are selling it at a knock-down price (£229 from www.maplin.co.uk and £239 from www.play.com including 3- and 6-cell batteries) which makes it much more attractive. Buy it for that and you're getting a decent machine, well made by Chinese manufacturer Hassee, that's a good all round performer.

QVC sold this at launch and the reviews on its site at the time wernt very good, indeed they stopped selling it pretty quick, stick with an NC10 rather than this which only has two batteries because of the rubbish life of one

Cold... These are now outdated... you can get dual-core atom, and nvidia graphics for around £300, with 160gb hard drive option... far far superior to this.

This has been lower in price before, nearly £70 more lower... not that great of a deal.

Laptop runs great if you like doing single applications at a time, i.e. Openoffice/Microsoft office, Internet and basic noting tasks. Does not play HD quality movies or HD Youtube videos.

I'd recommend getting the newer N330 intel laptops for a few quid more, and serve as a much better multi-tasking but same purpose role.

Please provide a link as I've never seen a dual core Atom in a laptop - you can get notebooks with dual core Pentium SU4100 processors for around £400.

Yes, but, it isn't out yet is it?
Also, does a 12.1" screen still qualify it as a netbook, rather than a small laptop?

Where has this been up forsale for a £150 then ?, would probably have been the hotest deal of the year due to the number of netbooks that are being sold at the moment -
just look
at the prev dell netbook thread - they sold nearly 300 in under an hour !! (I got one)
I also love it when people compare laptops against a netbook, the name netbook should really give it away.

Hope this has helped someone.

Buy the way the new http://www.gamingnexus.com/FullNews/A-dual-core-Atom-with-NVIDIA-ION-netbook-to-drool-over/Item15063.aspx as posted earlier is $500 so by the time we get it it will probably work out to £350-400.

No, you cannot, there's no such thing atm.

Where? I doubt it has, not new.

Wrong. Like most netbooks, it can multitask just fine. Atom processors are Hyper Threading. If you really need to play HD on a little screen DivX HD works just fine, as well as lower bitrates on other codecs

I'd recommend getting the newer N330 intel laptops for a few quid more, and serve as a much better multi-tasking but same purpose role.
Sure, if you want to pay more and wait till at least January.

Sorry if my comments seem bit abrupt but why try and put people off a decent deal with FUD?
