I thought that and bought one a week ago from HMV for £30. My advice, do your research before spending money on this thing. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. A few of the negatives... it doesn't have a capacitive screen and I found myself prodding the thing time and again to get it to do what you need. There isn't a physical volume control - prod, prod, prod... Moving up and down a list involves using an on-screen wheel - very fiddly. And, difficult to believe, but when navigating through the database for artists, in the next level it doesn't list songs by album!!! So if you have three albums for an artists, the first three songs for those albums are the first three on the list - all the albums are mixed up!! In its defence, you can scroll by folders, but you really shouldn't need to.

I haven't tried the video playback - the machine may have some merit with that function, I don't know. But at as an MP3 player, I think it's poor. The notion that this thing was on sale for £90 seems absurd to me.

Most of these issues I've mentioned (and others I haven't) could be addressed by a firmware upgrade, but from what I've read, Archos have no plans to release any firmware! I would be very pleased to hear I'm wrong on that.

Two positives - the sound quality seems quite good. Secondly, it looks good when it's turned off.

Cold from me, and that's at £30.

these are realy good for the car if you dont have a multi disc cd player or even a cd player, you just play all your music through your car radio, works great.( you set the Archos to any fm that doesn't have a station then set your car radio to that station and you get all your music through your car radio, turn it up/down,bass etc on your radio).

I bought this last week, I wanted to compare it to the ipod nano 16gb I bought from Morrisons.

Firstly I bought item number 110572697348 - when I got this bloody thing would not even work and the seller said it was my fault after sorting it out he finally gave me a full refund and I sent it back.

Then I decided to get another one from another seller, I got item number 280547894600.

Seller was pretty good send it quick, would be worth getting the item from this seller. I got and it was fully working. Anyway more to the point the fm transsmitter is wicked, it works really well. Also it really easy to use and audio quality is really good. Also the fact it can take load of formats makes it even better

For now I keeping both this and the nano, love both. Thinking of getting another one as a present.

For got to add the look and the feel, is much better than the nano.

Totally agree. I bought one when they first came out, but soon sent it back for a refund and bought another Sony. This thing should have been so good, but the software/firmware is atrocious. Doesn't even recognise smart tags, choosing instead to play everything in alphabetical order! Trust me, it's pants.
