Interesting house phone.
#3
I like it
#5
Reviews complain about un responsive resistive screen.
#6
If you can get an app to forward incoming calls over wifi to your android mobile, then it could be kind of interesting...
#7
Great Idea but screen reviews put me off.

android 2.2, i think it would be harder to catch an std than this thing get pwned by some sort of nasty exploit from an app (if any apps still support it!!)
#11
Still think that its a great idea and tempting :)

Beware this doesn't say it includes the wireless receiver.. Just the charging base. They are separate items with these handsets not like other cordless phones. Buyer beware!

Yes it does...includes base (ie wireless receiver) and charging pod. Similarly described on Archos website.

Then why does it include a phone cable? :p

...or I could just use my regular house phone for calls, and my smart phone for apps, and stop looking for the next reinvention of the wheel :P

over priced to begin with and still pricy now for old tech
#17
Archos crap, which they can't sell even at this price. That's my informative review :)

No it states base / charging pod. Ie. one item not two.

And why if you bought multiples for multiple handsets you would you end up with with too many receivers... Or none as I believe

Good point but it clearly states it needs a wireless receiver and it doesn't say it's in the box. And unlike other phones the receiver and base / charger is separate items
#20
If it's anything like other Archos resistive screens I would advise to steer well clear. May seem like a bargain but you'll be wanting to throw it through a window after 10 minutes.
#21
A great idea, but the reviews are not very encouraging, and that screen looks terrible.

That'll be your home Wi-Fi then. It needs a data connection doesn't it.

I have just watched an unboxing video for this product and can confirm everything you need is in the box.

Looks like a good idea, especially if you don't want to buy you're youngest a mobile phone yet.
But as with a lot of cheap phones, you get what you pay for. And this phone you seems to be
awful to use due to the lack of spend a few pounds more on a decent screen.

Cold - As cheap isn't everything.

User guide http://www.archos.com/support/download/manuals/Archos_35_Smart_Phone_Home_PN110338_EN_FR_DE_ES_book.pdf

It's one hell of an ugly item and that screen looks painful but if you want and Android phone which has DECT there's not a lot to choose from. And of course it has wi-fi so there's going to be a few andy apps people will want.

I have to vote hot for the price.
#26
Yeah I had an archos tablet and the screen was very unresponsive. Well known company but their tablets are terrible. Phone looks cool though.

this is good stuff for those who want to go VOIP instead of the regular landline. Using a combination of two different services, you can effectively run your home phone at almost zero cost per month. If you want to get a free uk home phone number with almost free VOIP service, PM me.
#28
Home phones are just plain boring. This will spice up our hallway at almost the same cost.
Thanks OP

Whoever designed this completely missed the point.
Get a Fritz Box router 7270 or 7130 that has built in dect. With the latest firmware your smartphone connects to it via wifi and your sect phones each have separate channels. Plus your smartphone will ring via 3g when you are out.
Plus the fritz does just about everything else as well. Get the 7270 on eBay for 50 or 60 if you are lucky. They update firmware all the time and the router features are unbelievable particularly the voip pbx function which is why I use one.

Did anyone actually receive one?

Was told they are out of stock despite their site showing "in stock"

What a bunch of jokers (_;)

Received the Morgan marketing email on Friday 6th September for this promotion. Ordered about 10 minutes after getting the email as I like these kind of phones (have Philips SL10a and Gigaset SL910A), Morgan took the money from my credit card almost immediately but emailed later in the week to say that due to huge demand the first batch had been sent out and they were out of stock but expecting more deliveries soon.

The product has remained "In Stock" on the web site.

Product looks good and price hot.
#32
Yep, sent them an email to state their website is still showing "in stock" which is a blatant lie.

This time they didn't even bother to reply.
#33
Sent an email at the beginning of the and phoned them today, items were dispatched on Tuesday and arrived today whilst I was at work. Device looks good.

To be fair they were apologetic about being out of stock.

So is there anything else on the market better

Anything else on the market better

Mine arrived last week. Easy to set up - includes base station and phone cradle as listed on the Archos website.

Updated firmware, installed Google Play & apps using ArcTools and it is all good. Ordered another for elsewhere in the house.

Best user with a stylus (like the old school PDA's) and keep it charged (fails to hold charge for more than a day due to its non-replaceable battery).

Not bad for a cheap android home dect phone.

Can't see why more companies aren't taking advantage of this side of the market.
