Previously available and posted for £194 and £284 from other online retailers, this item has been reduced even further by pc world.

Fun and functional, the Archos 5 Internet Tablet is a pocket sized device that offers a variety of ways from which to enjoy your multimedia files.

Not only can you browse the web and use handy little applications for the Android™ platform, you can enjoy outstanding quality video in 16 million colours from the Archos 5 Internet Tablet's 4.8 inch screen. You can even watch together by propping up the device using the leg stand.

With 16GB memory built-in, you can expand capacity Infiniti from micro SD or SDHC cards. It's a great way to transfer files from your camera or mobile phone.

There's even a FM transmitter, and if your car has a receiver fitted, you'll be able to listen to whatever your Archos 5 Internet Tablet is playing through its sound system.

Kind of, but a lot less powerful.

Internet access is okay on it, and there's a few apps (but not many as it doesn't have access to Android Market).

If you want something comparable to an iPad (but cheaper) then your best bet will be
Advent Vega for £249

Slow, unresponsive when using android at times.. Does not like applications large in size.
Not good at all.. Keep your eyes peeled at other tablets arriving on the scene.

Still waiting for the Archos 101 to be released. But this is a good device and fits in your pocket unlike most of the larger tablets.

Still available at Amazon. Despite the stick they deservedly get, i am a big fan of Archos. I still use my Archos 605 120GB 'brick' most days - wonderful little device. This offer is tempting but the soon to arrive new Archos 43 at £179.99 offers much more functionality e.g. HDMI output, comes loaded with Android 2.2 (as opposed to 1.6) and acts as an HD video recorder. This assumes it is not riddled with bugs and works first time, straight out of the box. My advice, is that unless you're desperate for a new toy to play with, hang on for a wee while. This time next year, you'll be positively beating off numerous new tablets with a stick. Not voting either way on this one.
