#4
Good find op, heat added
#5
WOOT, that's a good price for a GREAT MM device!
#6
Dont forget you can download iplayer programmes onto this

Very good price. I had this until recently but sold mine on ebay.

You really need to factor in the cost of the plugins and it doesn't play that much of stuff that you download out of the box.

Nonetheless, it's a good device generally.

Certainly it's a steal at this price. Nice find.
#9
I had one for ages and sold it the a few weeks later they started allowing Iplayer downloads for it so i had to buy another one, this is by far the best way of watching Iplayer programmes on the go,
#10
voted hot, great price. Good for those that missed the £89 605 40Gb from Currys late last year..
#11
Great price - voted Hot !

I actually got mine from HMV when they had mistakenly placed the docking station price tag/barcode on so it scanned @ £69.99 (someone would've got a shock if they tried to buy the dock !!!) - figured it wouldn't work, but hey hey hey ;)

Still, £99.99 is brilliant price for a superb piece of kit !
#12
Hot mine is sweet got the Currys deal last time
#13
awesome price for an awesome piece of kit. Voted hot :)
#14
I paid that price for a 160gb one from Argos - when they had a misprice last year :) I thought that was a bargain - this just seems to darn expensive IMO

- compared to that deal that is..............
#15
I had one of these, but have since sold it.

Absolutely massive and weighs a tonne.

Avoid imo. Good price though, and top of the range features on the player :)
#16
these require browser/plug-ins at additional cost ?
#17
Wired love it:

Misprice, NOT a deal. Your point is now moot.
#22
does anyone know if this deal is in-store to?
#23
Good price for a 30GB.

I was lucky enough to get a Currys 40GB with a 80GB disc in it when they were £89.97 last year ... quite a common "fault" I understand. Shed loads of info on that thread here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/253905/archos-605-40gb-multimedia-player-8/

Bigger and heavier than the Ipod touch but far more flexible (Drag and drop - no messing about with i-tunes to do anything and everything) and a far superior screen.

You can copy i-player files from your PC to this. The ipod touch cant ... or it couldn;t last time i looked. The ipod touch can stream but not store them.
#24
Not as good as the 40gb deal from Currys last year for £89.97
#25
Why expired?

Eh? I found one that fell off the back of a lorry last year, this just seems a bit expensive when compared to that deal!
#29
Why has this been expired, i ordered on and its in the post, still in stock...
#30
This deal is still available

A mod needs to take some time out from being over officious to unexpired it
#31
Why is this marked as Expired ?

Go to BBC iplayer ,choose a programme and click on Download for portable device,With the archos connected to the PC play the downloaded file with media player and while playin click on the Sync tab and click "Sync now playing with Archos",The programme is now on your archos and will be on there for 1 week,
You may have to update the firmware over wifi for this to work,Just connect to your router and it will ask if you want to update the firmware,
#33
Can on e of the mods explain why this thread has been expired, did i miss something out inorder for this to happen?
#34
what about the sound quality,is it loud enough to use in gym and is it better and louder as compare to the ipods or sansa ,sony etc mp3 player
#35
why is the OP banned!?
i was going to get the 16gb sony as im very happy with my 2gb one, especially sound quality. thing that puts me off this one is once you fork out to buy the player you have to keep forking out for software, even to use the wifi :x
#36
Voted Hot! Unmatchable Deal. It is a steal for this price!
#37
I've been tempted by this before and just before I take the plunge I've read quite a few negative reviews to put me off.

Knowing my luck I'd end up with a lemon.
#38
archos website is down too, another victim of the crunch!?
#39
I paid £150 last year and that was too much. I do like it, but have had some problems with it freezing and having to be reset and taking hours to re-charge. After I bought the web plug in (about £25 if I recall) I downloaded a codec to my laptop and convert the files before putting them on the device - saving on further plug ins.

The plus points are good picture and functionality. IMO the minus points are not great battery life, long recharge time (several hours) and problems with some surfing (its not great for hotmail). But hey, maybe I got a dodgy one.

I bought mine for in flight entertainment, but the battery only does one medium length movie.

With netbooks getting cheaper it may be worth the few quid extra for a netbook, but you cant beat the Archos for portability if thats what you are after. Hot deal.
