Good priced consolation for anyone who wasn't lucky enough to get the mispriced 120GB version at Argos recently.

Providing you don't need the large storage, this has all the functionality of the other version but with a 4gb solid state drive.
This is priced at £140 elsewhere, the next best price being £131.65 delivered at Dixons.
Not a reserve at store item but a possible pricematch at PCWorld (£149.99) if your lucky enough to find a store that still has any instore.

The docking station is well worth looking at especially if your media is available on your home network.
The best price for this is also at Amazon, at £53.52 this can be pricematched at PCWorld who have it [email protected] for £69.99.

I don't get this one. Make something cool like this and put a poxy 4gb in it? Sorry, not for me at all.

If it was for you then it would be a good price.
I don't need anymore than the larger storage, 4 gb will hold enough albums for me when I'm out and I'll stream to my TV/HiFi when I'm at home.

Good price- rubbish memory!

it takes SD storage, so you could get a couple of 4gb sd cards for away trips.
More battery life.
No moving parts.
Best price I have seen (and I have been looking).
HOT!

I'm surprised it is only 4Gb - absolute rubbish if you want to put video on it! I have a 30Gb Archos which I use as a PVR sometimes.

If you needed you could put a 16gb SDHC card in it for £60 from play. These are only going to get cheaper.

In 2 years time this will still be a great device, but you may use it with some big SDHC cards.

Meanwhile the price is much better than any other i've seen.

I have an archos AV420 which has had loads of use over the last 3 years, but I needed to send it back once when the disk messed around. So i am inclined towards a flash solution.

Also I don't think a huge memory is important. I could use this as a 'media extender' type device to stream video from my linux mythtv recorder to watch in bed.

If anyone is looking for one of the hard drive versions then Amazon appear to have the best price for them as well.

You obviously have looked into this Stapell, thanks for commenting on the deal, I grabbed one as I can't them getting much cheaper than this anytime soon.

I think too many people are getting hung up on the 4GB of memory. This is great device which can use a standard SD card to upgrade the amount of memory you require.

I have a PSP with a 4gb mem card in it. It does exactly the same as this does, as far as I see, and plays games too! The only thing is that it tops out at 4gb. Big memory would be the selling point for me in an Archos. 4gb doesn't really cut it for me, but that is just me I suppose.
It is a goodish price though, for what it is.

The selling points for me were the screen, most of the reviews I read commented that nothing can touch it.
The streaming etc look excellent although PVR will be a problem unless it can save to SD, I'm not sure if it does.
The price that SD cards are falling should mean that storage won't be a problem, £6 for a 2gb, probably £3 next month and as mentioned by stapsell, it's all HDHC compatible.

It's not quite the same as the psp, it's been discussed fully on hotukdeals at this link when argos had it mispriced, I'm sure there are a couple of links to good reviews near the start, worth a read if you're interested in the differences.
