Well, this one is banana flavour, but has the optional extra electric windows. The other one has central heating, but you'll have to do without the fur lining on the hood. Alternatively, http://tinyurl.com/ooenzn and have a butchers fer yerself :whistling:

Wifi can access all the content shared on your home computer network and, with the purchase of an additional plug-in piece of software from Archos, you can turn your 605 wifi into a full internet broswer,

Worth noting that to browse the web on this device will require that extra purchase, anyone know how much the software is that they mention?

Plugins are available on Ebay for much cheaper than Archos try to sell them to you.

I've actually owned both of these devices, the 605 has a smaller screen than the Archos 5 and also has some older button style controls whilst the Archos 5 is touchscreen only. Also, the 5 can play some HD content, has a freeview snap-on and generally larger hard drive sizes compared to the 605.

Last Archos I bought had no web plug in, no cinema plug in, no mains charger.

Would have been nice if I knew all this before I bought it. I certainly wouldn't have got it if I had known.

so the lesson learnt was research something before u shell out the cash

There is a little error in the decription: Flash Memory Cards Supported: SD Memory Card, miniSD, microSD. This is only true for the 4Gb SSD model.

I got one of these for £99.99 from Argos a year ago. I managed to save shed loads by buying the plugins through the American Archos site.

I think they stopped that loophole now.

Great device but a little too big! Fantastic for movies. Shame about the battery life.

add £40 for all the plugins and £50 for the dock you are better going for the QVC deal on the Archos 5 which is a better piece of kit with everything included

cold for above reason

Lesson learned that Archos will try and get even more money out of you for things that should come as standard.

If a standard £10 dvd player can supply AC3 compatibility what's Archos's excuse for charging you £20 for it?
