Archos 70 @ CPW now in stock - £99.99 including delivery
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! Not trying to copy another deal, as I saw this listed by wakey09uk, but it's now expired. But I rang CPW (0870 087 0870) yesterday, to see when it would be back in stock. They said they didn't know but I could put it on back order, and cancel it at any time. So I did, and I've just got a text message saying that it will be delivered to me by 9pm. So, out of stock (?!), but delivered next day - happy days!

1. Plug it in to charge. It's generally thought to be good to let it charge ALL the way to 100% on the first go to teach it what the battery capacity is. So if you can, leave it plugged in until then. You can use it while it's charging. Mine only got to 96% and seemed to stop there, jumping to 100% when I unplugged it. Go through start up wizard to get settings and wifi sorted. Agree to install the third party software as part of this.
2. Update the firmware - it should tell you to do this automatically otherwise it's in the settings menu that you reach by pressing the four line icon on the right (menu) and then the About device option at the bottom of the list.
3. In that same menu open Power Management and change it to 'Overdrive' (impacts battery life but makes everything work better). As an aside it's said to be good to let the battery drain all the way on first use too, so don't worry about letting that happen.
4. Go to the installed AppsLib program now on your homescreen (Archos's own version of the Google Android Market - not very good) and install ArcTools as the first thing you do (it's the top tool in the Tools category, and it's free).
5. Open Arctools and Install 'Default Apps and Market v3.0.26) by downloading it and then installing it. This gives you access to the full Google Android Market, hurrah!
6. Play in the market and search through the top free apps and games
7. Buy a minimum of 8gb microSD card when you realise you've filled the internal memory already
8. Install LauncherPro from the Market - it's an alternative to the standard homescreens (the pages you see when you press the home button), but the main reason to use it is that I found I had really annoying pauses when changing orientation or reloading the homescreens. Using an alternative like LauncherPro totally fixes that I've found (ADW Launcher is another popular, but paid for one).
9. Personally I recommend Dolphin Browser HD as my preferred internet browser, definitely scout around the market and try different ones.
10. Try some different keyboards, I don't like the stock one, however I'm having a problem that alternative ones sit UNDER the side bar on the right... hopefully there's a fix. I use Swype on my phone but it's a pain to install so trying Swiftkey Tablet X on here at the moment (half price on the market) and TouchPal Keyboard which is a new free one that looks decent.
Hope that's useful, fire away with any questions
It was OOS at CPW just 3 days ago, I bought one from e2Save a couple of weeks ago for £95 and after seeing how good it was tried to get another.
However they are not getting any others in but a small trickle of returns are coming back and are being reissued. It seem that you just need to keep trying them and you may be lucky to phone when they have one returned. You cannot reserve one with them though.
By the way, Yodel as everyone has said have been rubbish so I'd suggest collect in store. My partner waited in all day Wednesday and all day Thursday (nice next day delivery service there) as the idiots there specify any time to deliver between 7:30am and 9pm so really couldn't do anything as they would surely arrive just as you got far enough away to not know they had been.
Also agree about the comments for Yodel - bunch of incompetent muppets!
EDIT: Oh sorry, only Arnova's G2 range run 2.3, this Archos looks equivalent to Arnova's G1 range which also runs 2.2.
