I consider a better buy is the Sumvision Cyclone Astro 8 GB, @ Ebuyer Ebay for the same price. The 16 GB version was on promotion for £120 @ Ideal World yesterday but sold out.

I'd consider buying anything but an Archos TBH.

care to elaborate on why you wouldn't purchase an Archos?

Got an Archos for Christmas, took it back the day after Boxing Day. On paper it was a good spec but in reality it was worse than useless. Kept freezing, was very laggy & felt very cheap, nasty & badly put together & thought out. I'm used to using an Advent Vega & when I got the Archos the Vega was running the stock ROM. The Archos should have been a better tablet as it was a better spec but it was nowhere near. The lad in the shop said that loads of people had been returning these tablets due to them not working as good as they should. I'll be avoiding anything Archos in future until somebody convinces me otherwise.

If you've got a PC World local that has the Vega in for just under £100 I'd go for that and flash it with Vegacream, otherwise look at the older model Ainol Elf or Aurora or put a bit more to and get the newer dual core models.

Obviously just my opinion, I'm no tablet expert but I know to avoid Archos

Does anyone know if this would play sky go and the BBC iplayer?

I will vote this hot seeing as I know of no other 3g ready tablets (if it does indeed have a sim card slot). Personally it isnt for me, I just tether or use wifi but others may find this useful.

I was just thinking the same thing.

Sky Go doesn't work on any 4.0 device just now.

Maybe something to do with their reputation for making slow, buggy and generally not very good products? :D

The last Archos I had was built like a piece of crap. No thanks.

Although I have purchased a lot of products from 7DS over many years, Debs is probably a better choice for buying this tablet. In the past 2 months the Cyclone has increased from 4GB to 16GB for the same price ! Those who bought from Ideal World a few days ago must be peed off and considering a return and refund, to save around 30% on the I.W. total (del. inc.) price ! Expect to see a flood of refurbs become available ! Maybe even better prices to come !

Would the likes of Netflix be any good on this? I'm looking at one for keeping the kids entertained and stopping them from killing each other for the first 10 minutes of every car journey.

I meant the Sumvision, not the Archos...

Archos products are badly put together, don't work for very long and when they do work, they don't work very well. Archos are an awful company to do business with, the concept of good customer service is alien to them. I've had a few of their media players simply because there was nothing else with spec like it at the time and every time I've parted with money for them, I've regretted it.
Don't take my word for it, just look in the Archos forums!

In the next 6 months, 800x480 screens will go the same way as resistive screens. Can't wait.

Don't be a tight git, spend an extra £30 on the aurora II

And anyone who keeps listing their tablets as '3g ready' needs a slap. Bit like listing a TV as 'xbox 360 ready'.
#28
have to agree with the archos comments in that most archos hardware i ever had was either buggy, lacked expected features or limited in upgrade potential. kind of put me off the company.
I actually had a media player which Archos expected me to BUY aditional add ons to play the different formats of video or audio ( thats greed in its purest sense)

So this doesn't come with Google Play apparently? Disappointing.

Problem with Arnova tablets is the firmware. My wife broke the screen on my 7G2 today so I've ordered this.

If you understand how to flash them to install custom roms they are excellent value for money. Build quality is great and hardware is decent for the price but as I said, its let down on the software Arnova supply them with.

Not as standard no, 10 mins work and you got it installed though.

I paid £250+ for an Archos item, which stopped working after the warranty ran out. Archos simply stated they no longer support it & the retailer (Dixons) were not interested in fixing or replacing it. Would not recommend!!!
#33
sold out apparently and this seems a tad iffy; ebay Item number: 140801794068
