Please don't flame me if this isn't a good deal but I have just been to my local staples store in south east london and purchased a brand new sealed Archos AV 700 40GB for £149

I have had a quick look on the interent and the average price I can find is around the £300 mark so this seems like a good deal to me.

Update: Use Staples £15 off voucher to make it £135 in-store... Thanks for the pointer c00li0 :)

£135 for a AV 700 40GB with the £15 voucher discount is an amazing price for this piece of kit.

Thanks for the pointer :) Please use the "Product" button when submitting a deal, as it can then display the price under the Go To button in the original post ;-)

Take a look at the green link in my signature if you require any help in submitting deals.

Updated the first post for you to include the voucher :) Thanks for the pointer to that c00li0 ;-)

My local store isn't that big and didn't see any MP4/MP3s on show, asked and the guy went and got it, so worth asking.

I have been using a Samsung MP4 player for about 6 months now and it's great for the tube to and from work. This one is quite large though.
#9
c00li0 how do you find the AV 700, is the video playback and sound quality good, mine is still unopened as I want to claim the £15 off using the voucher.
#10
Would you mind giving a bit more info on the vouchers... Is it an A4/A5 booklet and where did you find them in store?
#11
Vouchers for me were in a catalogue style bin/display at the front of the store as I walked in. They are about 4inchesx2inches. Just ask for the voucher booklet instore if needbe.

I haven't played with it yet. I also got a 50 inch Plasma this week so I have been XBox360ing like crazy. I know with my Samsung the picture is fine, just a bit of clayface but no lag. The Archos is big though and reasonably heavy. But if you think you will have the time (like I do with the tube) then this is great. It has a dock to connect to the TV and a remote control too. I believe it uses Windows Media Player which is [email protected] at best. And if it's like my Samsung, will take a while to sync. To sync approx 20hours of video format onto it, I leave it overnight.

I have this, and because I use/love it so much I have purchased the Archos

Just phoned the Bolton store and they have none, the guy on the phone said he's been getting about 6 calls a day on this. They got some in a while ago and they all sold out really quickly and they won't be getting anymore in
#13
Where is this from Staples, please help with the link. This look like a great deal.
#14
Umm, that review has put me off a bit - i was looking for this to replace my psp with a bigger screen.
#15
Its staples - in store only!
#16
cant find any links to this at staples, just called them (leeds)
they dont sell them!
#17
I can asure you they do or at least did do (stock pending) I just purchased one from my local staples.
#18
Ive just managed to find/reserve one - will see if its any good... Anyone know what staples returns policy is?
#19
Note that (as I understand it) they're actually 'previous generation' machines, which might explain the low price & availability. Still, it does look like a decent deal, though. The other thing that I've seen recently at a similar price is a GP2X <http://gp2x.co.uk/indexgp2x.html> , but that's a fairly different proposition.
#20
this is one mega deal every place else even ebay have them for nearly twice as much. a truely amazing find  :) :)

Whats the new version then?

Whats the new version then?

The Archos 604 is the 'current' version, I think - http://www.t3.co.uk/reviews/entertainment/personal_media_player seems to be a reasonable overview of the main 'brand-name' options.

Hi, Just popped to my local Staples (Merry Hill - West Mids) and picked up the last one which was classed as clearance and therefore reduced further to £99!!!! :-D

Got home to find the AC Adapter was missing but at this price I'd be mad to take it back. Just found a spare 6V 2A DC supply at home so job done!!.... Couldn't see and vouchers in store. Noly saw a A4 sale brochure.

Get out to your local staples and have a hunt. Mine was locked away in a display cabinet with the SATNAV gear.
#25
AH! NOOOOO! I live near Dudley, bummer there goes my chance. I'm gonna hunt you down now. :p
#26
Damn you guys and gals are lucky. Just been to brent cross staples and none, nothing same as last week when I went, all they had was 3 crappy overpriced outdated mp3 players.
#27

The Archos 504 allows you to choose whether you want it to act as a mass storage device or Windows media device so I can just drop the vudeos on as I want, I'd be surprised if the 700 didn't offer this?

Went to my local Staples in Manchester and saw one in a display cabinet but it was priced at £199!! So I gave it a miss... no sign of any £15 off vouchers with any of the brochures either :-(
#31
I picked one up from the Aberdeen store today, marked as £249.99, asked the guy to scan it & the price came up as £149.91:thumbsup: .

No signs of discount vouchers, still a good price though.

Thanks OP

If you asked them to check the price on their system it would have shown the lower price the must of forgot to update the sales sticker.

i phoned all around kent today and managed to locate one with the battery missing. charged me £130 but no sign of the £15 vouchers either and i did ask, they said they sent them out before christmas!

anyway this will be stuck on ebay tomorrow unless anyone else wants it?
#35
Without a battery, I am not sure that you will make much, if any, profit after fees, Simon
#36
These could still be available then :)

Worth checking out by calling your local Staples...
#37
Ring around thats all i did but from today if you ask nicely they will give you a voucher book! but the £15 one has to be used today!!!! or alternativley theres another one that can be used from the 8th for £10 off £40!

If anyone is interested then Sunderland Staples have two in the glass cabinet, only one is in the shrink wrap though
#39
Does anybody know if this can be hooked up to a games console(PS2) for playing in the car?
#40
Just wanted to say thanks, great offer - picked one up earlier at the Sunderland Staples, I rang ahead first and asked whether they had any in stock - they did and I also asked whether they had any vouchers, they did and they were happy to oblige... ;-) Whilst I was there someone else had the same idea and had the last one put aside...
