I found these at a local Currys so will probably be available at PC World as well.

SKU 0000787060

The Archos TV+ (250Gb) is avaliable at £49.97, reduced from £244.66 !!! There were also the 80Gb version of this which was £34.97.

It seems like a lovely bit of kit and comes retail packed with a pretty nifty remote. At this price it's worth it just for the hard drive and enclosure let alone all else it can do !!

4 x 250gb and 1 x 80 gb in Torquay store - Riviera Way Unit 2:thumbsup: @ 11.45 this morning
#10
these were cheaper in store before thursday the 250gb one was down to £34.97 nationwide. they are very restrictive on what you can stream onto them without spending loads on buying codecs from archos themselves.
#11
The 80Gb was marked down at £34.97. The 250Gb was £49.97.... better deal.

It's wifi enabled and it's got an ethernet, so yes you can stream from it. The remote is Qwerty enabled with a mouse pad so you can browse internet more easily.

I got mine from the Bedford store, who had 3x250Gb and 2x80Gb as of last night.

If it's confirmed in Torquay then consider it nationwide. It's instore only

I'm trying to work out whether I can justify this.

I have a NSLU2 (Unslung) running Twonky with a 320GB HDD attached. However, this looks like a nicer unit and has the benefit of acting as a proper bit of AV kit too

good price

Loads of these, both 80gb and 250gb, at Fosse Park Leicester yesterday.

But no great shakes as a product:

Those swines, not listing stuff they are making a £50-£100 loss on on the internet.
#22
Called them just now , none in stock according to call centre anywhere?

Well there is this link :whistling: http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/storeLocatorPortal.jsp?storeCode=&service_name=Currys ;-)

Thanks for posting a link to the review. I was going to pop round in the snow to my local currys, but the need to buy extra software has put me off.

i was in store, bought one and they couldnt find it - spent half an hour looking for it!

The 250Gb has been this price for a couple of weeks now. Managed to pick one up when there were loads on the shelves then.

Great price but a crap product which makes it's current price a good deal. As the poster below correctly points out.

It's not HD and the plug-in for internet browsing is extra. Only reason I got it is that I own an 80GB Archos 605 PMP which knocks spots off the i-pod touch (size for size).
#31
Reviews don't look great but to be fair that's considering a price tag of £250.

At under £50 for a 250Gb drive in quality enclosure, remote, connectivity I would have thought it's enough of a shout in it's own right. It's rather more palatable at this price for sure
#32
Will they have it in PC World ?
#33
I was trying to get to grips with what on earth this is, then I googled and found a review to suggest its only a hardrive.

Reviews are pretty low also.
#34
It shouldnt be expired... still stock knocking about.
#35
looks like you have to BUY plugins for Internet browser (Opera), playing H.264 etc.

I wonder if it is possible to get these plugins free from the net...hmmmmmmmmm!!!
#36
Was tempted but the bad reviews put me off.

Sounds like you'd be better off picking up a £20 original Xbox and bunging XBMC on it
#37
they never do these deals at my local store :x
#38
managed to pick the last one up in derby.
apparently - nottingham castle boulevard had 5 of the 250 gigs. so do fosse park
they also had some 80 gigs if i remember rightly.

cheers

Picked one of these in south wales yesterday they had 2 of each left - had the guy on the currys 08.... number to find the product using the sku code and giving my postcode - then he checked all the local stores and found the nearest for me. These boxes were not on show in the store in fact they were well locked away and as there are no details online about them then not many shoppers know they are instore - so i reckon there are still a few to be had if you look hard enough.

I bought one as sky wanted over £200 to upgrade the 2nd sky box we have to sky+ so hopefully i will get sky recording onto this -if thats a problem then the new toshiba 22" that it will be connected to has built in freeview so i will try to record with that. If I can record then pull off the mpeg4's onto other hardware - pc, touch etc then I will be most happy !!

As people say reviews might not be great - but those reviews were based on a product that was pretty expensive - but at this price I think it will turn out to be a nice little bargain, and anyway I dont believe half of what any critic says - people were slating hd ready pannie plasma's I bought the 42" for £499 + 5yr guarantee and on standard sky its brill.

Still had two 250Gb on display at Currys Speke (near Liverpool Airport) this afternoon for £49.97 - only one now though as I bought the other!

Despite the reviews its actually an excellent buy for £50, especially if you are already an Archos Gen 5 user (which I am!).

Plug ins can be had on ebay for less than £20 to enable web browser, VOB, AAC, RMV and web radio/TV.

Do update the firmware to latest version via the Archos website (v2.1.04) - it ships with v1.7
