Does anyone know if this has "resume"? As in, when you turn it back on it picks up right where you left off?

Also, are they any good? We bought the Archos1 last February, and it's a great player when it works. We're on our third one now. The good thing about buying from mymemory is they will take care of you if it's faulty, they replaced it each time it died, no prob.

I bought my first brick of an mp3 player from them about 5 years back, broke twice in a year, have steered clear eer since. May have just had a bad experience though

skibster, check out a sansa clip+, auto resumes, great for audio books/podcasts, expandable via memory card and ultimately better all round for comparable price... IMHO

This would be literally useless for video playback, why did they include it?

I've had one for a few weeks - it's a great little player. Absolutely tiny, you'll hardly notice you are carrying it. 4gig is enough to store zillions of songs. The FM radio actually works, unlike most portable MP3 players - I get crystal clear reception even when on the move. Battery lasts a fair bit. Adding music is as simple as dragging and dropping using Windows, no need for bloated iTunes or SonicStage software; you can browse files on the player either by folder/filename or by ID3 tags (title, artist, album). Most importantly the sound quality is by far the best I have ever heard from an MP3 player, iPods and Sonys included.

Unfortunately no resume, so it's not much good for audiobooks or podcasts.

No AAC, or OGG, although you do get MP3, WMA, FLAC and APE

They include a sample video of Big Buck Bunny, the video actually plays back remarkably smoothly, although the picture quality is poor and such a tiny screen you'd have to be desperate to watch it for long. Plus the hassle of converting your videos to the required 128x128pixel XVID file is going to be far more bother than it is worth.

Basically this is a great secondary MP3 player, good for taking jogging or to the gym as it is so tiny and lightweight, although you probably wouldn't replace a more fully-featured iPod or Sansa for this.

Thanks so much! (and to Codify!) Can't imagine why they make these things without resume, people do listen to podcasts and audiobooks. The weird thing with the Archos1 we have that keeps dying is the first two had auto-resume (if you went into the "breakpoint player"), but the 3rd one they sent doesn't have that feature, so we're on the hunt again, lol. The Sansa clip looks good, though we did want a slightly larger screen. We have an older sansa that does everything we want, but the screen is tiny (for scrolling looking for songs, no need to actually watch vids on it), and we liked the size of the Archos1.

Hi skibster, the sansa fuse is the slightly bigger version - I have this and a clip+ the audio hardware they use is absolutely brilliant, don't be put off by the cheaper price, expandable with memory card (integrated with music/audiobook library unlike crappy zen I wish I never bought) you can have a bunch of different audiobooks on the go, and whenever you go back to one it will resume for you. I can't praise them highly enough. the fuse should be pretty cheap as they have brought out the fuse+ but its touchpad and not nearly as good. I think my 8gb came from amazon for like.. £38 but the 4GB ones should be cheaper. If it helps, although the screen on the clip is small, the text is very bright and easy to see. All my opinion and hope it helps.

Gawd, just checked and looks like amazon have the prices hiked on the fuze at the moment, typical. The clip+ 8gb is £36 at pixmania, 4gb £26

Thanks! The Fuze sounds good, but very pricey for our needs. Think I will just wait for a good deal on a Sansa, hubby is still using the little one I gave him four years ago (it's almost like a fat thumb drive, thin screen). He would like all its features PLUS a screen you can scroll through more easily. Was hoping to get that for 20-30 quid, but there's no real rush as this isn't required by Xmas so I can wait for a deal. ;)
