Arctic Monkeys Announce UK Tour Dates
We are pleased to announce our forthcoming tour in April. As a thank you to all our loyal fans we are only offering the chance to buy tickets to those of you on our mailing list. The opportunity to buy tickets will then be determined through a ballot allowing everyone to have the best and equal chance to get tickets for the upcoming tour.

We are trying hard to fight against touting and therefore invite you to take part in a fair ballot to get tickets for this tour. The mailing list will close at 19.00 on Wednesday the 14th of March. You will then all be mailed and asked to register for one venue and date only including your age and postal address.

All successful applicants will be selected completely randomly by computer. You will be told on Friday afternoon by email if you have been successful and given a unique PIN to use on the Arctic Monkeys web site, to order your tickets. Your pin is exclusive to you and you can only use it once, if you pass on your details to someone else you may miss your chance to buy your tickets, so keep it safe!

Remember, once you have your PIN you know that that you have tickets! Theres now no need to worry, simply use this to order by Midnight on Monday19th March, if you do not purchase your tickets in this time, you will miss out!

Dates are as follows;

Monday 9th April Guildhall, Southampton
Tuesday 10th April University Great Hall, Exeter
Thursday 12th April Astoria, London
Friday 13th April Astoria, London
Saturday 14th April Academy, Liverpool
Monday 16th April Academy, Newcastle
Tuesday 17th April Caird Hall, Dundee

They're doing 2 shows at The Leadmill so you never know your luck. Saw them there in Jan 2006 and it ranks as the best live gig I've ever attended (And I've seen hundreds!)

Surely this doesn't stop the touts, they can still sign up to the Mailing List and get tickets?!

Or do/will they have codes on the tickets where you have to prove they are yours with Photo ID or something or what?!

A good idea in theory, but they haven't quite hit the nail on the head yet!
#7
nope theres no code on tickets, theres nothign to stop touts joining the mailing list and selling these tickets.

"pre-sale" tickets have been an attempt at stopping touts, but more often than not...."pre-sale" tickets make their way straight onto ebay none the less!

photo id at the gig is the only way to really stop touts....altho that will make entering gigs so time consuming...i doubt it'll ever happen!

Yet they are planning on doing it for Glasto!

I'm not having a go at you the_idlewilder I promise! I'm with you on it takes long enough for people to get into gigs as it is, as someone I know went to see Faithless in Bristol on Sunday, where the doors opened at 7, and they weren't on til near enough 9 o'clock. With the fact that the Bristol Carling Academy only holds 2000 (and that's probably a generous estimate!) so although 2 hours may be enough, it may not be to allow check people and their Photo ID. I know you can have more people on the doors but this will cost the venue more etc etc. Listen to me, compare 2000 people with one entrance to something like 100,000 people at Glasto with a lot more entrances! I hope you can get my drift though! :D

I don't think there is an answer! Other than stop the gigs! :D

Unless you can only enter with the credit card you booked with and you pick the tickets up at the venue! Saves losing tickets in the post too I suppose! I WANT A NOBLE PRIZE! lol :D

registered and voted hot. i love this place to get scoops like that ;)

I just hope putting this on HUKD hasn't given the touts knowledge of this event that they didn't already have! I'd LOVE to see them in Sheffield, Leadmill is an awesome venue, but I can't see me standing a chance of getting any tickets. I hope they prioritise to people who've been on the mailing list longer as i've been on since it started!

To be honest they should have just said anyone who'd signed up before they posted the tour...

But then I wouldn't have got in :whistling:

only way to do it is to somehow have a card swipe entry system where you have to swipe the credit card used to pay for the tickets. or something similar to the oystercard system they have on the London Underground.

Bumping this as all the emails to the people on the mailing list have now been sent so check your inboxes, people (or your spam boxes if you can't see it!). Plus, I now have an excuse for posting a link to the full screen video stream of the new single, lol.

that song is awesome, i really hope i can get tickets for the newcastle show!!!
#15
30 quid to see AM?!?! Thats crazy! Only cost me £8 the first time i saw them!
#16
It's actually £20 in London and £19.50 elsewhere. When you consider how 'intimate' these venues are, a billy bargain IMHO.
#17
Has anyone managed to get tickets?

I stupidly misread when the registration closed so I was on the mailing list, but wasn't able to register for tickets! D'OH!
#18
I got Two tickets for Exeter :-D
#19
I registered for 2 tickets for Birmingham but was unsuccessful - gutted !!!! If anyone has a couple spare for Brum or Sheffield and wants to get rid of them.........
