There's no way a 9ct chain from Argos is going to weigh 100g ......... :whistling:

A whole £3 reduction on the normal price ...... which as you say would leave them about £500 light. Last time I looked, Argos hadn't become a charity:roll:

there is no way the resale value of 9ct poor man's gold is worth £600+..lol...hattons must be mad

well check fr yourself..it says it weights 100grams..if you go to hattongardenmetals.com and calculate the price they will give you for 100g of 9ct gold you can see for yourself....

i dont care about the chain, if they weight it in argos in front of you and its weight is 100g..then its scrap gold value is over £600..i never said they were a charity but its either a mis print in catalogue for gold price but who can say no to £600 cash for a necklace the they paid £141 for!!!!
#4
your all a bunch of doubters..go to www.hattongardenmetals.com and calculate the 9ct gold purchase price for yourself..

Weight (grams) 100g Carat/Quality 9ct
We will pay £667.19 for your gold

is what it comes up with

Looks like they made a mistake on the other chain thats 30g and listing it on the website for £135, some people are being denied.

Maybe this time they made a mistake on the title hoping people will be buying loads :w00t:

Sorry to play doubting Thomas, but look on the web and the average weight for a higher-carat chain seems to be about 30-40g, if it's solid -still a good deal, if this one weighed in.

But Argos sell jewellery that would make Gerald Ratner blush ...... and they're not beyond the odd typo. So, as the old saying goes - if it loooks too good to be true, it probably is.:whistling:

If you've got nothing better to do, by all means check this out ....... it's certainly a good spot !

Don't forget to let us know the outcome ....... :lazy:

You must be soft in the head if you believe this chain is a 100 grams, rope chains are never that heavy by there very design.
Even the heaviest solid gold curb chain they do is only 62 grams and thats 490 quid.

Dream on.
#12
good find though.
#13
It will be 10 grams or 1/3 of a troy ounce.
#14
maybe worth reserving one, you can then phone them in the morning, and ask them if they can put it on the scales.. If its only 10 grams you dont have to collect it, if its a 100 then order as many as you can as quick as you can:whistling:

375 9k gold is gold, whether it's from Elizabeth Duke, Goldsmiths or Kwiksave:thumbsup:

This is defo a typo. Not in a million years can they sell 100g at this price. Good luck though!

100g, 80g,60g do not refer to the weight of the gold. They are just a form of model numbers to mislead people thinking "g" means grams. Otherwise if you bought 10 of 100g chain and put it round your neck you end up with 1 kg of 9 carat gold round your neck for £1400 which is impossible or it will kill you. I have never known any business man ever sold gold at a huge loss or make a mistake of its weight. This is not even worth chancing in case that you are lucky, you wouldn't be as 1kg of gold, if you bought ten, is a lot of gold.

if it really weighed 100g surely would make sense for argos to scrap all remaining stock themselves wouldnt it rather than give their customers a free gift of 500 quid?

Sorry, but I think you are quite wrong. 100g means exactly that - the chain *should* weigh 100 grams. Its not some other form of secret measurement - its a standard practice in the jewelery world as it shows the amount of gold in a piece not just the quality.

Not that there is a snowball in hells chance of this being 100g !
#25
Well all the stores in Manchester are sold out so will be interested to see what the weight ACTUALLY is!
#26
can't wait to hear how this one goes....
#27
If you can't get it weighed in store, take it home. Don't forget Argos do a 16-day money back guarantee!

An interesting one... good luck to those who try!

Sorry that may have been a bit strong...

but HDUK definitely reflects the way the country is going - it used to be a community for finding deals, but has been hijacked by people purely looking to make a quick buck, usually by either ruining deals by ordering ridiculous amounts, or ordering multiples to sell on eBay and therefore denying other in the community the oppertunity to share in the deal.

It really frstrates me but hey - as you say - times are tough.

Tis a shame, thats all.

(and no, I'm not a retired conservative MP railing on about the state of socient - honest!)
