Actually the reason I would never buy another HP or LEXMARK printer is the cost of the cartridges.
Cheap to buy - a fortune to run even with clone or refurb cartridges.
I have had many printers over the years and have come to the conclusion that you get what you pay for and by purchasing EPSON the cost of ownership it is far far cheaper.
HP laptops thumbs up - HP printers thumbs down

So if I remember correctly a new HP printer comes with 'demonstration' cartridges that are not 100% full - so quite quickly you are out of ink and start shelling out ££££
HP No 343 Tri-Colour Inkjet Print Cartridge. £19.58
HP No 348 Photo Inkjet Print Cartridge. £17.92

Printer £29.99
Ink £37.50
Your look of amazement - Priceless!

LOL

You know what they say: Think before you print or Read twice before you print.......

Seriously guys (and ladies!) - please check out the cost of ink before buying this type of printer otherwise you may end up contributing to landfill sooner than you thought.
Check on our favorite auction site and you will see that even with reman carts (i.e. the print head may be well past its design life) the cost is high - then compare with say Epson R series a complete set of 6 cartridges for a fiver or a continuous inking system for £20 post paid PLUS if I remember correctly the print heads are guaranteed for life!

this one does not have the lcd screen in the top right corner. BEWARE!!!

It does have an LCD but its in the top left and the one sat on my desk has been superb for the price!

A good thing with these cheap deals from Argos is that you can extend the warranty to 3 years very cheaply.
We had an Epson from them for £29 3 years ago and paid £5 to extend the warranty it packed up just before the warranty expired we took it back and was offered another £29.99 printer or £30 in vouchers.

so, where can we get cheap alternative ink for this HP printer?

Quidco brings up quite a few merchants of printer ink. Cashback varies from a few % to 15%.
I buy re-manufactured every time as not only are they cheaper, they are filled to the brim with ink. Not the case with an original. Oh and I normally print fast draft. Very quick and little ink use.
www.internet-ink.co.uk has 15% Quidco.
18ml high capacity black (no 337) £12.99 or £10.99 for 2+
14ml high capacity colour (no 343) same prices.
Includes delivery.

I just picked this site as a representation of what's available. I've not bought from them and not suggesting they are the cheapest.

Also, ink saving tip - print greyscale if colour not essential to the run. Saves your more expensive colour. Greyscale draft for most efficient ink use!
Voted hot :-D

internet-ink did actually turn out to be the cheapest when I bought through Quidco (15%) this morning.
Order two colour and two black as unit price is cheaper. For 10% off enter 'giveme10' in the voucher box. All carts filled to the brim with ink!

This extract from my receipt -
HP 337 C9364 Compatible SUPERFILL Black Ink Cartridge 2@ 9.35 £18.71
HP 343 C8766 EE Compatible SUPERFILL Colour Ink Cartridge 2@ 9.35 £18.71

TOTALS
Sub Total £37.41
VAT £6.55
Discount £4.40
Total £39.56
