Thanx Stecra . Just ordered 2. Just need to find a couple of knackered analogs

This is cheaper than those other models I've seen,

Is it any better than listening to radio on your pc or via freeview? Other than not having to use batteries, I remain unsure.

What's the sound quality like?

sound quality is dreadful. we had some builders in who had one and I hated it! Spend some proper money and get a Pure One Classic. I've had mine for four years now and it's been impeccable, and the sound isn't bad for the size.

One problem is that DAB uses the very old mp2 codec and often at bitrate levels lower that are acceptable for mp3. Some stations also tramsmit in mono to save space (i.e. fit more stations on.) So while DAB may sound OK on a small radio with one speaker it is far far worse than the sound quality of FM.

True, but this radio has only one speaker anyway so that wont make any difference.

DAB is a ridiculous technology to still be pushing in 2010, the BBC have a lot to answer for.
