None, it's the latest marketing fad.

Reading this http://www.coldisthenewhot.com/html/rate-and-review/index.php?2 does sound too good.

Powder tends to clog the machine, that's why we use liquid!

Cold for me, its rubbish!

REGARDLESS of whhether you use powder / liquid / etc always do a machine maintenance wash at least once per month in order to flush excess cruddy soap through / loosen off limescale etc. ..AFTER you've taken the dispenser drawer out & given it a good clean down in a sink (& poked your hand to get some of the gunk from the recess..
We have a big LG washing machine (with the clean cycle so it's easy to remember) & due to (we reckon) using an electric descaler on the water inlet pipe to the house, have had much better performance from our laundry tablets etc, in fact even though we live in east anglia major limescale country) we only need to ever use 1 tab for an 8 kilo full load, rather than the recommended 2 tabs..

Incidentally wash your fleeces after a tub & dispenser clean as for some reason fleeces don't like conditioner, we immediately do a 3 load wash of fleece bits & bobs in order to maximise this & further clean the dispenser area prior to normal cycles.

This is the best washing stuff we have used, having dirty kids clothes with all sorts of stains it gets most of them out and at low tempretures, most powders are just bulked with fillers anyway that dont do anything.

which found this to be the best washing......, was going to say powder but someone will only moan :) we find it really good especially on the kids cloths and you can definately wash at lower temperatures

I can honestly say I didn't know the difference between liquid and gel this morning, but I saw the deal in Sainsburys and thought I'd get some anyway, after checking it out I found it is simply that the liquid starts to work from 30C and the gel from 15C (basically a cold wash).

The benefits of a cold wash means that you use up to 40% less energy due to not having to heat the water, and the chemistry behind the gel allows you to get just a good a job as using a liquid at 30C (the gel goes into the drum via the measuring cap and starts to work straight away).

I can say that I tried the "Ariel Colour Excel Gel" today and it worked perfectly, the laundry came out clean and the stains had completely vanished, of course you can always wash at 30C if you want the extra boost from the warmer water.

We have a new washer/dryer (Hotpoint WDD960) and have vowed never use powder in it as it completely gunks the machine up overtime compared to using liquids.
