REVIEW of thermal paste from Stulid @ overclockers.co.uk

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18416534

Conclusion.

If I was buying thermal paste tomorrow with my own money, the Gelid Solutions GC-Extreme or MX-2 would be first on my shopping list with the Prolimatech PK-1 Nano and Alpenföhn "Snow Cannon" following close behind.

What is it?!
Probably means you don't need it then ;)

In laymen terms it is what you put between a CPU and heat-sink to make the heat-sink work efficiently.

Hooot!
I buy loadz of this stuff. At least two a week, for £6
#11
mhhh tempted, may open up my t410, give it a clean and put some on to keep it running cool-er.
#12
Worth buying some for your GPU - should improve cooling by a couple of degrees.
#13
I just bought it yesterday night on flea bay for 4g for 3.99.
Hot for amount and price but hate I didn't wait for your deal.!!
Its for my ps3 flashing red light fix.

Wouldn't you be better off getting the 30g? It's cheaper per gram.

Can I ask why you need that much that often? do you build PCs for a living or something?

Really good stuff this. My seven year old laptop was constantly overheating. I'd cleaned out all the vents, removed dust, used laptop cooling fans and just assumed the CPU was dying.

As a last resort, I bought some of this and replaced the old stuff (which was still pliable and seemed ok). Instant decrease of about 20 degrees average running temp.

Great investment for anyone with an overheating PC that doesn't respond to the usual basic cleaning measures. For a few quid it might save you buying a new one.

Nice find just the thing i'm after .

Never used this before, usually use the gelid extreme. Stopped using the arctic cooling silver because of the curing time. Is this stuff the same or does it work at it's best right of the bat?

Just need a deal for some isopropyl alcohol now.
#22
Times have changed, this stuff is no longer relevant. Event the 'historic' AS5 paste beats the paste in the deal by a fair margin. If you want one of the best, go for IC Diamond.

[Not commenting on the 'deal' - just pointing out which pastes are the best for those users who want the best.]

Will this help my GPU's temperatures? I got an xfx 7870 Tahiti le and playing games like bf4 or metro last light temps get to 95+ degrees. Warranty is direct with xfx now so I cba to RMA it, would rather see if I can find a solution myself?

Ordered 65g tube, almost finished my las generic 65g tube and it's about time I started using decent Stuff.

This will help but only by a few degrees. Unfortunately the card you have is very well known for getting very hot. It's the card itself and the cooler. Your only option is an aftermarket cooler for it, see if arctic cooling do one.

The stuff I've seen, including the Skinnee Labs comparison, puts MX2 above AS5, while the top interface is normally Liquid Pro.

I personally use Hegrease. It may sound like something a bodybuilder would slather on himself, but it performs excellently, is well-priced and doesn't suffer from the issues of the liquid metal types.

Ahh okay, that sucks :/ could put the money on a new cooler towards a new GPU, sell my 7870xt and possibly hope to get a 960 when it comes out

Anyone else know where to get 90%+ isopropyl cheap?

yes 99%, i usually get it for about £15 for 5 litres off ebay, amazon is more expensive. It lasts a while as some things need it to be diluted.

You can't drink wood alcohol and that % of alcohol is not legal

Wow, that's impressive how the Amazon seller managed to spell the name of the product wrong, and OP did too.
