yum love asda pizzas

Is this for any 14" pizzas, or only certain ones (e.g. margharita)?
#4
and is it fresh or frozen? sounds good tho

These used to be really nice a long time ago. However these days they scrimp on the toppings and the base goes hard and crunchy when cooked. Still ok for £2 but a rather poor pizza imo.

Yes i think its for all types of 14 inchers, deep pan, thin crispy and stone baked. All varieties aswell i think,i got 3 different ones so i can feed some folks this weekend.
Theyre on a shelf and can be made up for you while you wait .

These are fine in my local Asdas, they don't skimp on the toppings and the base I find is fine (usually have traditional thin and crispy or stonebake which I prefer over the americanised deep pan) personally I think they are far better value then any fast food pizza place anyday.

Are these the create your own that was on offer other week?? Someone on here recommended the BBQ chicken and it was gorgeous, also added steak and red onion (best pizza ever!!) But would recommend the stone baked base got the kids one on thin and crispy and as some have you have mentioned was a bit hard and in my opinion like 'cardboard'. Heat added!!

I also dont think they scrimp on the toppings. If anything they put too much on.

Great from my local asda, plenty of topping
tip- be pleasant with the bored girl putting on the toppings, works wonders

Can anyone tell me, I remember when I was much much younger and did family shopping with my folks I used to get a garlic pizza base with cheese and mushrooms up North, but have tried in Walthamstow Asda and the Big one in Leyton and they have said no we don't do that. Are they spinning me a lazy line or can you still get garlic butter based pizzas? It wouldn't suprise me as I sometimes get the 'NO we closed now - go away!' from someone behind the counter in bad English. Joy! But I do miss those nice garlicy pizzas.

Might still give them another whirl if they've got the stonebaked base ones. Can't go too far wrong for £2 I suppose. Me and my dad used to get one every Friday night 9 or 10 years ago when they first came out and they used to pile the toppings sky high, you could barely see the cheese and tomatoe underneath! Then all of a sudden the management found out and the staff were sent on portion control courses! Overnight they became extremely strict on the toppings. They went from giving you basically whatever you wanted topping wise to "x" amount of this and "x" amount of that and very thinly layered. We stopped getting them in the end but have tried a few more, from a different Asda, recently since moving in with my gf and this shop is also stingy with the toppings plus the problem with the crunchy bases which I'd never noticed in the past.

Also as far as the "make your own" goes. They will only normally make you one up if they haven't already got the type you want already pre made on the shelf.
#17
the make your own one up 14" for £2 is for 4 toppings only....

Our local ASDA makes lush pizzas - better than any other pizza I have tried - and for £2 you cannot beat them.
As other poster said, a smile and a bit of banter works wonders too!

I find you get more when you ask for one to be made from scratch. A couple of tips though, if you ask for 'half and half' toppings they will only give you 2 topping on each half (which i've never understood) and also, if you want to substitute bbq sauce for the normal tomato sauce, it costs you a topping!! I think thats also a bit stingy!!

Yeah, they still do these. You need to ask for "garlic bread". They should know what it is.

if they are stingy with toppings just tell them to sort it out
they get all embarased and add more

they are usually fine but once or twice there has been a tight ass
making them
a quick mouth full from me fixes it

I have to admit, after my bashing in above posts, we got one tonight what with it being a week before pay day and only costing £2 and it was great - just like the old days!

We got pepperoni, ham, bacon and spicy beef on stonebaked base and there was plenty of toppings on. Admitedely not quite as many toppings as back in the old days but certainlty more than what they've been giving recently. We got several pieces of pepperoni and two scoops of all the others.

Make sure you ask for extra tomoato puree, which I did, as otherwise it can be a bit dry. Another tip, like all pizzas, is to wet the base and outer crust before putting it in the oven - just makes it that extra bit softer.

HOT deal.
