Yesterday it was 2 for £7 so I never got this price. No difference in taste from the value range.
Value salmon £10 per kg, this range £11 per kg.

2 for £7 is 100g more and cheaper per KG so thats the better value in my mind.

Best deal is probably Netto 240g Salmon fillets @ £2.04. Exactly the same fish that goes into Sainsbury products is used here (can be Norwegian fish if need be).
There's also a Netto 220g product for £3.49 that uses Scottish salmon only but that uses exactly the same 240g portions as the previous two products ;)

Personally, I don't like to eat the head, eyes, tail & bones, so how much do they weigh, and I wonder what the comparable weight per kg of 'edible' salmon would be?

The head etc. are generally for presentation purposes although the heads are used in Asian cuisine, for example, for soups.
The tail doesn't weight that much. A lot of people like that area of the fish as it doesn't contain bones.

It's £10 for an Asda 1Kg salmon side (Norwegian) at present; £6 for a 500g Sainsbury Salmon side (Scottish).
(Remember that the average pack of salmon, side etc at a fixed price generally is heavier than stated on the label. Sometimes you'll get 40-70g extra so it can pay to feel the weight in store rather than picking the front most one)

Morrison's is £3.99 per kilo as well. Was lucky enough that the fish monger weighed the fish after the head/tail/gutting done as it would be much more than the £8 I paid!. They also give free marinade, love the tandoori dry rub one!.

Oh, thanks, so you didn't actually pay for the wasted bits then? I did see them 'whole' the other day, but didn't fancy all the prep and the assistant didn't look much like a fishmonger (no beard and wellies!)
