Im currently getting the Coopervision Frequency 58s from my optician at £15 a month. Work out at nearly 1/2 price on this site. Time for a phone call to the optician :)

Came across this site too - http://www.getlenses.com

http://www.visiondirect.co.uk/

I got mine from there. Was payin £22/Month!! Got the same lenses for 103 delivered - quite a saving in the year! Oh - the best bit is I also get 20% quidco back and free delivery on my next order.

ASDA were about a tenner more for same lenses and much less quidco. Id recommend checking this site first :)

I was getting coopervision frequency 55 monthlys from specsavers for £10 a month, the cheapest place i've found for them is from postoptics £27.50 for 6 months.

Over half price

You guys are getting ripped off!!!

Don't forget to factor in the Professional fees to these prices. This will varys with optometrist but the decent ones, like most decent professional services, don't come cheap.

Factor in at LEAST an hour of professional time per year for a full eye examination and some decent contact lens aftercare, topography fluorescein staining, full slit lamo exams.
Remember that contact lenses are not saleable without adequete aftercare arrangements being in place (Section 20 of recently amended Opticians Act 2006) This secion in in place is to cover YOU (not the Optician) in the event of an emergency!!

I think you'll find in most cases internet prices for lenses alone are more expensive that the opticians (provided you see an independent optom rather than the high street)

Fwiw my fees are around 12 per month and, letting you into a secret here, My price for coopers F55 lenes are about £4 per eye (including solutions!)

Best

well i can get 12 months supply of lenses for £55 compared to £120 from specsavers, i've got bottles of solution which will last me well over a year so i dodn't think i'm going to be spending the £65 i save on a yearly check up/after care.

so i've saved money

Sorry don't think this is particulary a good deal. I get my lenses from www.daysoft.co.uk 3 months supply is £39.98. The guy that invented daily disposables runs this company

Are there any vouchers?

Eye, eye, what's going on here then!!

Souljacker,

I think you will find that the solution expiry date is 3 months. You are risking your vision with possible corneal problems by not discarding the solutions to the manufacturers reccommendations. I would urge you most strongly to follow the advice and professional expertise of your local independent optometrist.

Please do not risk the loss of your sight by "appearing" to save a few pennies here and there. It's just not worth it. Please take it from me who has seen enough of the very unfortunate and now sorry people who have lost their vision as a result of non compliance with contact lens care regimes.

Hmmm, youve sort of put me off this now optombenno. Mine are currently £15 a month for monthlys. I can get them online for £8-9 a month. But I suppose when you factor in the free checkups that I get by getting mine through my optician, its maybe works out near the same.

Daily's aren't what I was talking about! I was talking about Monthly Torics. That site was by far the cheapest for those.

Re: comment about "being ripped off" by these internet sites... here are my calcs:

Vision Express charges:
£23.99/month x 12 = £276 (includes everything - inc aftercare)

Internet price:
£103 + solutions (approx £20 for the year) + appointment for checkup (£25) = £148

IE I SAVE £130 ISH! NOT BEING RIPPED OFF NOW!

My solutions DO NOT expire after a month. If they are sealed they have a 2-year life. (Expiry date on them indicate as such). If - and only if - you open them THATS when they expire within a month. Its only 'salt' water after all!

The above example is based on Torics and individual circumstances may vary. I was definately being ripped off and am no longer so. Just wish Id done it sooner and not wasted a fortune in the last 5 years with Vision Express! :whistling:

You can still be careful AND save money. I would still have done at least the 3 months trial with an opticians first before taking the plunge with the internet, but then Id have moved to the internet as £160 for aftercare in a year seems a little excessive to me. When I went to them with my cancellation after 5 years of being a customer (or more!) they said "Ok, no problems" after I told them why I was cancelling. No attemt to price match or anything...

I'm currently Using CooperVision Frequency 55 Toric Monthly Contacts.

Does anyone know if there are any cheap Toric Dailies that I can switch to?

Define cheap...

http://www.visiondirect.co.uk/product.php?xProd=80&xSec=15

£195 FOR 180 PAIRS - + you get 20% back on the pre-vat value = £40 ish making it £155...

Daily torics are still relatively new and they are limited to only a few cyl/axis values. At present -0.75 * 90 , -0.75 * 180, -1.50 * 90 and -1.50 * 180. I also wanted daily torics but my prescription is outside of these values/measurements so I have to go with monthly or yearly ones. They are always developing new "stuff" so hopefully daily torics for all prescriptions shouldn't be far away.
