whats the original price du know? does it have a removable inner bowl thingie?

edt:: just called and checked my local who said the price went back up to £18.75 or sommat a few days ago.

Great price if it is nationwide. Especially just for a limited use. Although a nightmare to clean..
#3
What a great way to stink your house up of oil fat !!

I binned mine after a few days, the house was terribly smelly when that thing was on :(
#4
I'm stunned people actually USE these horrendous things!!
#5
I love mine, paid about £40 originally but all the ink kept coming off changed it twice then got my money back, so I tried Asda's for about £15 last year - brilliant - not a bit of trouble with it. I do agree though it does smell for quite a few hours after use but as my husband wont eat oven chips this is a great way to make chips for us. (also much nicer than oven chips)

Make sure your home insurance is up-to-date first :p
#7
it's hardly a tefal acti-fry @ £179

You have obviously never used one. These things are pretty safe; its the chip pan fryers which arent safe.
#9
I tried this and it was a pile of c**p. Took it back for a refund. Other reviews for this model are bad too.

Now have the tesco £13 one and its miles better
#10
It's a rubbish fryer. Looks nice and big but when you open the lid, the basket inside is tiny.
#11
This product will definitely become hot.

You obviously don't user stand the meaning of :p

:whistling:

And no, I have never used one because I don't tend to fry thing except bacon and eggs in a frying pan.

I have one of these I do eveything in it - the kids won't eat it if it's not been done in this. Great, heat added!
#14
Despite the criticisms, you have to hand it to these guys though - they do make one tasty chip:) Yummy, yum, yum, yum :-D
#15
People still use these things?

SO all posteres- do your local ASDA stores still have this for a tenner?! :?
#18
I'd rather eat my own scabs than buy this piece of crap.

wow why are people being so high and mighty on this? its a deep fat fryer, people have used these for decades - why is it such a bad thing?

i for one have this, paid about £14 last year, and its perfectly fine for one person. plus chips taste great in them, i cant think of anything else that can make chips like this. because oven and micro chips taste awful.

i have to say though i dont use mine that much, i use the forman grill for most things and i have a cooker i just bought but cant afford to hook it up yet lol, so the fryer for such a low price does a fine job on chips and nuggets. some people rely on these for food, were not all rich!

You dont have to be rich to not want food covered in fat/oil and you def dont need to be rich to not eat nuggets.

It's a good deal anyway, but not in my local ASDA. and it's better to keep myself away from these fried things, tastes fab, but not any good to our body..........
#23
I had a chip pan fire years and years ago and bought an electric fryer.

I use lard in it to cook chips.

I've never tried oven chips or microwave chips but I do like to deep fry them.

If you only have them now and then I think fried chips are fine.
#24
Things like this make you obese. Eat Healthy, and don't feed the kids junk!
#25
Someone said on here, the Tefal acti fri burst into flames, some one earlier said we should get one of them instead :w00t:.

only had oven chips once as i live with my mum still and she cooks with the old fashioned on the gas chip thing, if i had to cook chips, i'd set the house on fire :-D

not sure if these are good, but must be safer then the old chip pan thing. oven chips do cook fast though and is less off a faff on what with peeling the spuds and cutting them up :)
#26
Pretty poor product - especially for chips as the temp of he oil drops too low after you put the chips in then they just sit there in warm oil - spend a more on a better product - don't understand the negativity towards fryer though - i've always had one - better than dry oven chips
#27
I actually pitty you for buying this.
#28
why is everyone slagging this off?

It's perfect for cooking calimari, whitebate, and wagamama recipies in tampura batter
