That's a good price as Morrisons has been knocking them out at 55 pence each recently....Problem is wife's put me on a diet and won't let me indulge in Cookies and Cream anymore....Bah!!!

Frijj milkshake recall

As a precaution Dairy Crest is recalling some of its Strawberry Frijj milkshake because a low level of Listeria monocytogenes may be present.

The product recalled is

- Strawberry Frijj

- 500 ml

- 'Use By': 05/04/11

If you have bought Strawberry Frijj with this Use By date then please do not drink it, but contact us for a full refund.

No other Frijj products are affected.

Toby Brinsmead, Managing Director of Dairy Crest's Liquids Business said: 'a monitoring sample has indicated that a low level of Listeria monocytogenes may be present in some of our Strawberry Frijj milkshake with a Use By date of 5th April 2011. As a precaution we are recalling all production of Strawberry Frijj with that code.'

'We are very sorry to inconvenience Frijj drinkers who have bought this product'.

For further information please contact Dairy Crest's Careline: 0800 328 5344 (freephone) or e mail: [email protected]

From Wikipedia:

Listeria monocytogenes, a facultative anaerobe, intracellular bacterium, is the causative agent of listeriosis. It is one of the most virulent foodborne pathogens, with 20 to 30 percent of clinical infections resulting in death.[1] Responsible for approximately 2,500 illnesses and 500 deaths in the United States (U.S.) annually, listeriosis is the leading cause of death among foodborne bacterial pathogens, with fatality rates exceeding even Salmonella and Clostridium botulinum.[2]

Oh well. What's the worst that could happen?

Hmm. Interestingly I bought a strawberry one yesterday afternoon, drank it and had a bad stomach in the evening. Just checked the date on it though and it was 12/04 not 05/04, so hopefully I've not been poisoned....

Ah, the proper price. There seems to have been a drought of late, with all stores only offering the 55p / 2 for £1.10. No we are back to serious business.:{

Just had one. The toffee one is excellent if you have a sweet tooth;)
#17
Toffee one, you mean fudge?

About 10% of the bacteria in your gut is this stuff anyway and you shouldn't have anything to worry about unless you're pregnant or have some kind of immunodeficiency.

Still... I wouldn't drink it... :)

mmmm chocolate mint one, gutted there's no asda in walking distance

Voted hot! I think we will see these on offer everywhere for the next few weeks after the listeria recall :D
#21
nice shakes pretty bad for you but 50p is cheaper than water
#22
The only really bad thing in these is the sugar, but there's not that much more sugar than in coke or orange juice.

Frijj's yo-yo in price in my ASDA - I very rarely see them at the usual pound or so. However, the prices they usually offer tend to be along the lines of "2 for £1", so it's nice to not burden yourself with two! :P
